This is strange considering SIlent Hill 2 did it so well it can't be beyond capabilities and it's always cool to look at yourself in game.

Maybe it's a psychological thing about games developers.

Probably laziness in terms of attention to detail. Deus Ex had reflections after all, and that game isn't the newest title out.

But perhaps as games get more advanced, creating reflections like that get more complicated. It's not important IMO anyway.
It does indeed seem true that older games were more likely to feature reflections. Here are some classic games that feature excellent mirroring. Could someone post some more recent games that include a mirror, but no mirroring?

That is a very good point. I had forgotten about that. Furthermore no legs, no equipment between the legs. Hmm...I think that breaks immersion more that a mirror reflection, but then I don't ever really look into a mirror much in real life. I do, however, like to know where my equipment is at all time. :)

I think the opposite many games I have played with mirrors that work, don't ask me to name any please.
Alone in the dark is the newest one I can think of.

^This. Games always get extra points from me when they have legs. Riddick gets like a billion extra points for being able to see your shoulders/legs/arms during different actions.
So does alone in the dark (when you check your jacket inventory).

Condemned gets this big time, it really adds a lot to the experience to see your body in many parts.

I don't really care about mirrors, but it definitely adds to the experience to be able to look into a mirror and actually see yourself, I don't know why a game would put in mirrors but not make them work.

I think with attention to detail more and more these days graphics-wise, we'll start to see alot more reflective mirrors, because immersion if a big part of what developers are trying to catch nowadays. It's one of those buzz-words that everyone strives for. Regardless, I think games without reflections will be a thing of the past from now on.

Can't say it's something I look out for. Like others have said, I'm more bothered by the fact that many FPS characters have no body.

It certainly did.

Even wank-fest Alone in the Dark had working mirrors.

Haven't finished the game or haven't finished the riddles? If it's the former then get cracking. There is a lovly bit with Scarecrow and Killer Croc after you meet Ivy in the greenhouse.

If it's the latter then take your time. You can't even get them all until you go off to fight Ivy.

Well you could play a game other then a Fps.
Mirrors aren't FPS exclusive...

Most games I've played with mirrors in seem to have reflections.

I posted that to mean that, If you not playing an Fps then you can see your character. Making the whole point of a Mirrior useless.
