Australia - Barbecues every day, we're all called Bazza, Shazza, Dazza, Sheila, and various other sounds with the word -a attached. We all love shrimp on the barbies, footy, drinking beer, Crocodile Dundee, and are terrified of dingoes near our babies. We all talk like Steve Irwin.

It's barbecues every other day, I've never met a person with those names, we love prawn on the barbie, football (Soccer for the Americans), AFL, Rugby, and cricket.

Crocodile Dundee was a good movie, just don't set us to Mick Hogan, I'm pretty sure there was no dingo. And from what I've heard, not a single person has spoken like the late Steve Irwin.
And I've been everywhere, man.

I know plenty of intelligent americans. That stereotype only exists because the stupid, annoying americans are always the loudest.
Although, we have more then out fare share of dummies (see Sarah Palin).

I live in Ohio. We think West Virginia--or West Virgina if you want to be clever--is full of...ahem...cousin marrying rednecks.

You know, it's not really very encouraging for us to bother when you all won't even give us a chance. I have a healthy amount of respect for Canadians.

OK I take it you want to know about Texas then.

First off the Western Movies, there all set about 100 yeas ago. So that stuff and life style is history.

Citizens of Texans from a Texan
Yes a lot of Texans own guns and we do have permits and papers for them. No we are not gun ho nuts, most of the time they stay locked in a gun cabinet. Yes there is a good number that us that don't fill safe with out a pistol with us. Most have the papers for them. Why we have them is for various serous resins some where rob some had a brake in some are going over to Mexico and some just don't trust other humans.

We have a array of ethnic population we are not all aryan white we have just about ever ethnic group mostly are white, black, spanish, arab and others. Not manny asian's but we have them.

Religions
Mostly Christians there is more a breakdown then that, but I am atheist so I don't care.
I know there is the church equivalent for arabs and jews but don't know where.

Most of us don't care we are different. In fact other then in central part of the state there is no racial tension, that stuff is more for the jack asses up north. If you brake the law we will hate you for that, if you are stupid we will hate you for that. We mostly judge others on there actions you fucked up you have to pay the price get over it.

Politics
We argue hard core and with force but we don't hate the other person for it. Let me put it this way, lets say a your a vegetarian and need you have some endangered animal breed like some kind of deer or fox any animal, you can ask an cattle rancher for land to help bring back the population odds are he will say so long as they don't bug of kill is cows.
In other words oil men can get along with wind-farms guys. A lot of the land out by my house have wind turbines on them.

Views on the outside world.
We don't understand why everyone on the planet is being a dick to each other or why some seem to want to destroy the land kill animals for fun or wage a war over god. ( You can get a lot done when you have friends.)

The land make up.
We have 5 past we have West Texas (where I live) Its hot its dry and windy and flat that is why we are 3rd in wind-towers and power made by them I think we past Germany for it but quote me not that. Also the trees around here are small there mostly mesket trees good for cooking and heating but not much other then that.
Then there is the panhandle or north Texas lost of hot air and tall tress and lots of wind and oil fields. (Don't know much have not gone there often.)Snows more here then anywhere.
Central Texas is where all the big city's are at. Its hot there to but it dose snow a few times the year during the winter.
East Texas has tall trees and lost of rain the coastline is wonderful the shore is nice its hot but you want it to be hot there all the time, hell I don't even think in winter it gos below 70 unless there is a storm.
South Texas, I been there once at eagle past it was hot dry and no wind witch you need! Plants are small so no shade unless its a building not much rain and crime every where. Mostly drug stuff and brake ends, I recommend not going there, unless you want to do something illegal then go ahead.

That is Texas in a nutshell. Also rattle snakes are in just about every area so be carefuller when walking around.

Hope this helps you.

Most of my family lives in Kentucky and I get tired of the whole inbred thing, WE ARE NOT INBRED!! My family works very hard and has very little, if the people who make fun had to live their lives for a day they would shut the hell up.

They are very aware of whats going on in the world, they might have a slightly backwards opinion of the world that also comes form how they were raised. So lay the hell off, we dont sleep with our cousins we are just trying to get by in the world.

Actually, I was thinking about mentioning Texas in my original post, since there are a lot of wide-spread misconceptions about it - that everyone there is a cowboy, gun-crazy, etc.

Like this guy

Hope this helps you.
Definitely, thanks!

Like Fat Man Spoon said, England (just England, it'd take too long to include Scotland/Wales/Ireland too) has three distinct stereotypes:

The South - Rich, stuck-up, wine-swilling socialite pricks.

The Midlands - Rural, backwards, borderline racist farmers.

The North - Grubby, lazy, violent and abusive lower-class criminals.
And don't forget the dragons and wizards and knights in shining armor! ;D

I could be under the impression that everyone from a different country is a condescending asshole, since that is all I see from them. But then I would be making huge generalizations, which is stupid.

I, as an American, was under the impression that Canadians were pleasant, polite, and considerate people.

My misconceptions were shattered. Shattered.

Okay, first of all, NOT ALL AMERICANS ARE IDIOTIC GOOD OL' BOYS AND RIF-RAF! Many are (just like in other countries) and many of our famous figures (celebrities and government officials) are, but many of us are intelligent.

That cleared up, onto my State: Michigan.
Well, we are not all gangsters, trailer trash and thugs as the city of Detroit leads you to believe. We are also not lacking of any hot chicks, even though we do have cold weather (many people claim all the babes move to warmer places). There is a diverse range of people, weather it be when speaking of ethnicity, weight, height, social status, income status, etc, etc.
I can't think of any other stereotypes, but tell me any, and I'll tell you the truth on them. Mainly, MI. is just bland, with no one prominent people.
ALSO: Contrary to those Kellogg's commercials, there is no such thing as "the fields of Battle creek." Battle creek may have fields, but it is a normal city, just like any city anywhere in the USA.

Sadly, pretty much everything you might think about Michigan is true. Lakes up the ass, and twice as many farms. Seven months of winter, three of summer, and yet somehow we still manage to grow two whole crops of corn every year. The bigger cities are just the same as every other one in the country, too much of an alphabet soup mix to properly label.

I live in southern cali and yes it is exactly like that.
I live in central Cali and it's just ungodly heat in the summer, six weeks of permanent fog in the winter, and no rain or snow.

Ever.

We don't have any beaches, and I've never seen a movie star here.
