This popped into my head while reading several Halo Reach reviews where the reviewers commented on how Reach being a prequel makes it one of best jumping in points for newcomers to the series. For a series that's one of my personal favourites, and as someone who has played them since the beginning, I found that perspective to be almost an odd one but upon further thought it really does hold some water.
Thinking of my own experience, I find that there definitely are a few series I can think of that I never really got into the first time around and now I do feel that sort of passed me by. Devil May Cry, for example, is a series I briefly played the first game of but that was it. Now, with the series apparently facing it's own reboot, it just feels too late for me to "get involved." (and if the reboot didn't look terrible so far, I think I would actually be willing to try jumping in)
Are there any series that you've missed out on and now feel it's too late for you to get on board with?
Would a series reboot or alternate storyline treatment (like Reach being a prequel) have what it takes to get you involved?
