Missouri Man Pleads Guilty To Possession of "Cartoon" Child Porn

Missouri resident, Christian Bee, faces a potential 3-year prison sentence over "incest comics" found on his computer.

On Monday, the US Department of Justice's "Project Safe childhood" initiative revealed that 36-year-old Missouri resident, Christjan Bee, has pleaded guilty to obscenity charges after police found "cartoons" depicting child pornography on his computer. Under the terms of Bee's plea agreement, the government will recommend a sentence of three years in federal prison without the possibility of parole. The sentencing hearing will be scheduled after the United States Probation Office conducts a pre-sentence investigation.

The police discovered Bee's stash of pornographic comics after his wife contacted the Monett Police department and claimed she'd found child pornography on his computer. Police officers promptly obtained a search warrant and confiscated Bee's computer.

Project Safe Childhood was launched in 2006. The initiative aims to "combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse." It also seems to have declared itself an arbiter of artistic merit, adding in its press release that Bee's comics "clearly lack any literary, artistic, political or scientific value."

Bee has technically been charged with possession of "obscenity," which under US law includes "a visual depiction of any kind, including a drawing, cartoon, sculpture, or painting, that - (1)(A) depicts a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct; and (B) is obscene."

In February of last year, Christopher Handley was sentenced to six months in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release and five years of probation, after he pleaded guilty to possession of obscenity in the form of "drawings of children being sexually abused."

More recently, Sweden's Supreme Court acquitted manga translator, Simon Lundström, overruling two lower court convictions that deemed his collection of loli-manga constituted child porn. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/117938-Swedish-Courts-Imaginary-Children-Arent-Real]

I will never find a right answer to this. I just don't know at all if it's right or wrong.

Is there any evidence that shows people who have fetishes for children hentai will become worse the more they see? Or is this the righteous opiniated going on a witch hunt?

What trips me out is that his wife ratted him out for some racy comic strips.

Either way, this is something I'd love to argue in court. I'd draw a crude image of one stick figure plowing another, then ask people if they think it's funny, or just stupid. Then I'd rant "Well, she's only 16! All you sick fuckers are guilty as sin!".

Because, really, where is the line drawn here?

Can you get in trouble for a parody cartoon of Honey Boo Boo getting railed by a ham sandwich?
What about if Emma Watson did a porno (oh God, please!) where she dressed up as Hermoine? Do you get in trouble for the characters depicted possibly being minors, even if she's well over 18?
Where does public breast feeding fit into all this?

It's beyond stupid. Nuff' said.

So this what we get with "traditional conservative values" a man can't fap in peace in the comfort of his own home.
And why does this feel like another case of : just accuse a man of having child porn, will sort everything out

Yeah, who cares if he's a pedophile?

I mean, they should've have just thrown him in prison(that certainly doesn't help anyone), but the man was absolutely in need of psychiatric help if he had child porn (animated or not) on his computer.
Considering they're far more likely than not talking about hentai, I really think you're overstepping it by calling the guy a pedophile. Saying it makes you a pedophile is along the lines of equating all games to being willing to commit actual violence.

Or I guess in a more direct sense, if you like bukkake videos it doesn't mean you go around looking for four or more other guys to go jerk off onto some girl.

There's a huge gap between watching porn and having the mindset to actually do what's happening in it.

Now, actual child pornography is indeed wrong because that still involves someone having sex with a child, but we're talking about a simulation that's really far from reality.

Pretty much *this* with everything you just said. Let me get this right... drawings. Federal time over a drawing depicting an illegal act. The first thing that popped in my head was a stick figure drawing like the quoted poster mentioned. A stick figure ramming another stick figure with some numbers drawn below them that are <18, could potentially get youe 3 years in Federal Prison and a ruined life?

...

WHAT THE FUCK!? WHAT. THE. FUCK? Look, actual child pornography is detestable, any act involving underage sex, seriously no. That's fucked- but fucking drawings? Really? *sigh* I really don't know what else to say.

You do have a point. It's just a lot of the time they are not only pedophiles, they can be straight or what ever as well (he has a wife just remember), so they can live a normal life too.

And of course these leads back to my original question in post 8.

Ugh. Obscenity laws. Total bullshit.

Stuff like this is just ridiculous. The worst part is that I always get the feeling that laws like that can be so easily exploited. For example, I still have some macros lying around on my computer from my 4chan days that would probably offend some of my fellow Southerners. None of it's CP, but what if at some point someone on my legislature deemed it "obscene?"

Bam. 5 years in jail. For having a Pedobear gif.

...shit, now I'm all paranoid. Time blow up my computer.

You shot people in a game? yeah who cares if your a mass murderer.
Not to mention that japan has successfully been fighting paedophilia by allowing possible molesters take it out to a drawn comics.
not to mention that 99% of cases paedophilia is mislabelled by media.

I will never find a right answer to this. I just don't know at all if it's right or wrong.

witchhunt. come on, after so much "games make you violent" comments you are doing exactly the same?
I think the people at the court should be jailed indeterminately for stupidity, because i find it obscene how such a stupid person can be allowed to decide peoples freedom.

Hang on, his WIFE tattled on him?

While everyone seems to be concentrating on the pornography part, I find this extremely amusing. They must have such a trusting relationship...
