The only problem with Starfox is that it doesn't want to stay consistent. In a way, it's a good thing, as it makes the games feel a little more unique, but it also paints the series as trying to be multiple things at once. I mean, we went from a pure flight combat game (Starfox and Starfox 64), to an adventure (Starfox Adventures), to a hybrid mission-based TPS/flight combat game (Starfox Assault), and to the most recent open-ended, hybrid flight combat/RTS (Starfox Command). So the issue turns into a question of going with a consistent formula, or trying to change it up with something new--the original Starfox model is outdated, and even going with it can lead to a letdown (Command...ugh), or you can do something new and alienate half of the player fanbase who want more Arwings and less walking (Adventures). It's essentially a lose-lose situation.

For the record, though, I liked Adventures, and I'd like to see something like that come to the Wii. And now let's cue the people quoting me who're prepared to boil me in oil for liking Adventures...

I want to believe, and it's Shiggy so I wouldn't be surprised if he came up with more awesome stuff, but when he's mentioning Wii Fit Plus and Wii Sports Resort as examples the future looks... disappointing.
I thought Wii Sports Resort was damn good, though. The sword fighting alone is the closest thing we've gotten to a really awesome new Bushido Blade game.

Now that I want to see: a Bushido Blade game that uses the MotionPlus. S-E should get to work on that instead of another Final Fantasy game.

It's Miyamoto, and I trust him.
Yes, I am an unashamed Nintendo fanboy, why ask?

Since his games just keep getting better, 'specialy Mario, and I trust Miyamoto, so .. yeah.
I don't know what else you want me to say.

But the promise of Star Fox fills me with Joy, since I love the series so.

Also there's just so many possibilities for hilarity with that. For example, make a Mii that looks like Gordon Freeman and go use your "crowbar" on legions of enemies charging at you.

Anyway to get back on topic, I too would like to see a Starfox game with Miyamoto's direct involvement on the Wii seeing as how everything after Starfox 64 has been a complete and utter disappointment from gameplay to writing, with Starfox Command being a blend of the worst of both.

A new StarFox game would be pretty awesome, but I'm still wishing for a new F-Zero game. But until then, we'll have to keep trudging through the mounds of dullness that are games like Wii Music.

New Miyamoto-headed StarWing/StarFox - in the vein of Lylat Wars/StarFox 64 - would be truly amazing. Anything less won't be able to revive that long-suffering series... as far as I can tell, it's only really popular with kids, nostalgic twentysomethings, and furries now.

Not holding my breath here. I'm thinking that it might be along the lines of a next generation Mario, ya know, like Mario Junior. I think that maybe there will be a remake of Mario, still under the Mario name, just with a totally redone character. I grew up with Mario, and if I know anything, they might just slap a new main character in and call him Mario Something-or-other.
Really, a new Starfox? Beats the hell out of a remake of Milton's Secret Castle! Oh yeah, I went there.

I'll believe him when he tells us "We're going to stop milking the franchises we've had running for 10+ years and make some new, original IPs!". Until I hear that from him, he can enjoy sitting on the casual-gaming goldmine he has while I completely and utterly ignore his work.

That's because Pikmin 3 is going to the shit! When it comes out in 2019, right before the release of Kid Icarus.

Pretty much covers it.

But seriously, this sounds promising. I hope he's actually got something in the works and isn't just speculating, though...

I hope Pikmin 3 doesn't go the way of Duke Nukem Forever or any Valve game that isn't Left 4 Dead or Portal. I'd like to play it sometime before the Apocalypse hits.
