The only problem with Starfox is that it doesn't want to stay consistent. In a way, it's a good thing, as it makes the games feel a little more unique, but it also paints the series as trying to be multiple things at once. I mean, we went from a pure flight combat game (Starfox and Starfox 64), to an adventure (Starfox Adventures), to a hybrid mission-based TPS/flight combat game (Starfox Assault), and to the most recent open-ended, hybrid flight combat/RTS (Starfox Command). So the issue turns into a question of going with a consistent formula, or trying to change it up with something new--the original Starfox model is outdated, and even going with it can lead to a letdown (Command...ugh), or you can do something new and alienate half of the player fanbase who want more Arwings and less walking (Adventures). It's essentially a lose-lose situation.
For the record, though, I liked Adventures, and I'd like to see something like that come to the Wii. And now let's cue the people quoting me who're prepared to boil me in oil for liking Adventures...
