Not sure how many of you guys play these games but I broke down and got this one about a couple weeks ago. Man, I haven't played a baseball game since about 2000. This game is pretty awesome. However, I am having a hard time coming to grips with the controls. I like the freedom allowed nowadays but can feel a bit overwhelmed. I was wondering if anyone is able to post any tips to help me out on play. For instance, does tapping X (PS3) make me run any faster or am I imagining it? The booklet sucks and is hard pick up on stepping in.

I also need batting tips. My Average is .233 right now with 19 at bats but that happened after my last game. It was around .180ish until I hit 2 doubles and a single in my last game. And I am only in the minors. What is the difference between the 3 swings? I ain't seeing it.

Any tips or discussion is welcome.

EDIT: Hell, if you want just tell me about how your career is going. I was drafted by the Frisco Rangers. Struck out my first at bat. Got a Homerun on my 12th at bat. Struck out most of the rest with a few singles and a couple doubles. I play CF and C as my secondary.

I have it and love it, im in a league (we only played a few games and I only played 1 and was no-hit!)

I suck at hitting, I mean suck.. I cant lay off anything and just whiff away. I do pitch pretty well tho.

The difference between the 3 hitting modes is your bats hit box (the yellow box when you click in L3) so O will be least power but most yellow area so you will make easier contact. X is normal and a normal hitbox and power, and [] is power with least accuracy in the hitbox.

Until you do really well with hitting I would leave it on X and go to O when you get into trouble in your at bats.

As for the speed thing.. I dont know, I dont think anything matters but I do move the R Stick around when running and swear I see my guy hussle more!

Dude, thanks for the L3 view thing. That helps. Heh, I was swinging at everything for a bit but have learned a way to watch the strike zone pretty well. Just don't try to talk to me when I am at bat. Lol. It takes all my focus pretty much.

Nice job on the no hitter. In case you didn't know, the left joystick can guide your swing similar to the little baseball icon for pitching. Just assume the bat is always in the center. Not sure if that helps or not though. I have blasted a pitch that was damn near a grounder swinging at stupid pitches and pulled a grounder single out of my butt.
