If it's real, I'll definitely give it a shot-- I'm actually incredibly intrigued with how they'd handle things. If it sucks, I stop watching and return to my normal ponies. If it's good, then that's another show I have to watch, which is always nice to have.

And I seem to be alone so far in actually kind of liking the 'coat color is skin tone' thing xD I dunno, I just think that if it is a 'pony magically turned human' thing, it's logical emough skin tone might match the fur color, and it looks kinda cool.

But yeah, this is pretty much the same reaction I had to the spoilers for the season finale-- it's definitely tricky, but I trust the writers and I have to admit, it provides some very interesting story possibilities.

While this does surprise me a little I'm actually wanting Hasbro to give us a TF spin off where the war still goes on Cybertron long after Optimus and Megatron left through the portal to earth.

Eh. Ponies are more unique than that.

Still, I wish it will be okay. I've seen some pretty horrible shit aimed at young girls. One episode of what-ever-it-was comes to mind where the girls were after a machine that makes your legs thinner, and one of them got slightly thicker legs and that was like the most horrible thing ever. Or the one episode of 'Bratz', (I think?) that had the big dilemma to be 'He saw me without my makeup on'...

I mean, I'm not against 'girly' stuff, or taking on concerns about appearance and make-up, but if you're doing it in such a vapid and horrible way that only promotes body-issues, fuck you.

That's why I like MLP.:FiM. I'm not a brony, but I appreciate it exists. All the ponies have different personalities, and I really like that it has the very feminine (Clarity? Verity?) one who liked shopping and clothes, but who was serious about it. It's her job, and she's an artist who works hard.

Also the main character is a nerd.

As a kid I was so frustrated there were no female nerds in stuff, I wish I'd have had that show then.

EDIT: Also, those designs suck. If you're going to make them human, take some chances and make them look more unique.
Also, all of them except Rainbow Dash are wearing skirts. (that's how you know she's a tomboy)

Are pants difficult to animate or something? At least make the skirts (and the boots) different, wouldn't the shy one look nicer with a ankle-long skirt or something?

All in all, the designs look lazy.
Rarity. Most of the ponies names are actual words, usually two. Like "Twilight Sparkle" or "Rainbow Dash", there are exceptions, like the aforementioned Rarity or Lyra.

I agree with what you said though, I fell in love with the show preciely because it had strong characters. They are exaggerated archetypes (the nerd, the shy girl, the hyperactive girl etc) but they appeal to us because they are realistic. They have strengths and weaknesses, and are relatable. They have realistic problems, like refusing to accept help, or learning to not let fame go to your head.

A lot of it has to do with the mythology as well. I mean while some of the set pieces are used as jokes(the salt saloon in appleoosa), it really seems to show a world that has more than meets the eye, especially with places like the everfree forest. Tons of races too; I mean there are Sapient buffalo, ponies, cows, donkeys, athro dog people and a Minotaur. There are hydras, manticores, cockatrices, and timber wolves(wolves literally made out of plant matter). There are freaking bug like ponies that can shapeshift and feed on love for peat's sake!

Sorry, gushed a bit. Its things like the above that make me like the series a lot though.
Yes, but on the other hand, there already is a show with all of that stuff.

I can see reason for a spin-off like this, but they need to differentiate it enough; no magic, no magical kingdom etc. Make it much more grounded in reality, and have the personalities differ a bit, because they are in different situations. For example, how would someone like Pinkie-pie get along in the real world, with school and such?
And even then, it's difficult to come up with themes that the FiM couldn't handle but this show could.

I don't think much of it. It's a spin-off, and won't affect the original show.

Probably not the person the creator wants posting here, but here goes...

For me, it's a lot less creepy for an adult male to watch this new show, than to watch MLP. That's kinda messed up huh! - it's less creepy to watch a show about young girls, than to watch a show aimed at young girls... I think that the issue people have with Bronies, is that we can't understand why they would want to watch the show, apart from the sinister reasons, like they might be grooming MLP fans. But watching a show about young girls is less creepy somehow - like a paedo wouldn't openly watch that, it'd be too obvious.

Maybe it's just how my twisted mind works.

Oh my god, if this is true than I await the biggest shitstorm in 4Chan history. The racists who get in a frothing rage when they see humanized ponies like Twilight as any ethnicity will probably try to set the internet aflame.

As a neutral on the whole MLP thing, I hope this rumoured TV show is ok. Not good, not bad, but middling, because if it's good or above, the internet gets spammed with MLP spin off images everywhere, and I don't want that. If it's bad, the amount of hatred and bile for MLP will reach unprecedented levels, and I don't want that either. If it's okay, the worst I have to see is a few more hating comments and a few more MLP images, nothing terrible.

This is, of course, if this rumour turns out to be true.

um... aren't they adults in fim? Not teenagers...

Ugh this is going to be one of those set in high school sorta shows by the looks of it...

Also why are they still the same skin color as their pony counterparts...

Heck if there going to be humanize they might as well do it like this.

The designs are great and catch the spirit of the character itself. Not these...there lazy...

That said it be best if the show is given a chance, then if it is bad it will likely die off soon, or if good then good for everyone.

And this has exactly what to do with gaming?

Please post this on sites that actually discuss this sort of content, this is just shoving things into people's faces.
I afraid that you're mistaken, the gaming forum is over here.

This is off topic forum, where discussing a TV show is definitely allowed. Also, you opened this thread, I didn't force you to.

Well, you didn't blatantly insult anyone right now, and you are discussing the specific topic, so you're not a dick in my book. I'm interested in hearing more of your reasoning on why watching a girly show is worse than watching a girly show with girls in it. Seriously, go on.

Let me guess, it is about the skin color of Twilight.......haaaaaa.........I give up........
Well, at least the artists will have a specific image when they draw humanoid ponies......

Count me in as one who's okay with this. If anything, we might get a human Discord. That could be fun.

Otherwise - yeah. Cash grab all around, Hasbro wants dolls and widdle fashion lines and playsets and shit.

Eh, it already exists in places easily ignored. And NOTHING beats out that pony porn comic book. Christ that was bad.

(I made a whole post without mentioning that Loli thing. Yay.)
...you know I should be surprised but the existance of banned from equestria (daily) and browsing of /mlp/ I am not
O.T. Oh man and here I thought the whole twilight being an alicorn was gonna be the thing that kills the fanbase this might be it...or there is a slight chance that this might be good and and more of a slight chance being better but who knows for me it was unexpectedly expected....wait this must have put /mlp/ in a shitstorm oooooo I gotta go see how they're up to with this

So I don't get it, how is it MLP anymore when they aren't ponies?

Savber said:
So... this would make MLP's rule 34 a lot less creepy or just plain worse?

*shudders*
Worse. Fantastical, magical, absurd and exaggerated cartoon horses vs little girls. One is so preposterous it's hilarious, the other... the other gets into some seriously creepy close-to-home territory.

My Little Pony without ponies? In order to appeal to an older audience, they are aging down the characters?

I honestly have no idea what to make of this. I foresee myself ignoring it.
To be fair we really have no idea what the ages of the ponies are in friendship is magic, they could be anywhere from 15 to 25. But the human ones are obviously teenage.

I honestly cant see it becoming as popular as friendship is magic, they look too human now and with that comes allot of baggage. They kind of avoided the whole race thing by going with coloration from the ponies but we now have the age thing. The best part about them being ponies is that it allowed the viewer to assign traits to them, like if you were younger you could easily see them acting childish and assume they were young, if you were older you could see them operating their own businesses and taking on adventures to save the day and imagine them older and not the teen heroes that are constant in anime and most adventure things.

If they get good writers I can see it working but I have doubts, oh well, at least its an offshoot and will have no impact on the main series... assuming hasbro doesn't go all hands on and try and make the main series more and more kiddy (TEA PARTY FOR NO REASON!!!) and try and make this one more "mature" (read:teenage)

Will they have magic? Or will they be stereotypical teenage girls?

Cool spells and adorableness, or worrying about dates?

Please be the former, please god.
