At the age of 16 I suffered a injury called Kienbocks disorder in my left wrist *please no "jokes" because they are idiotic* I did not receive medical help in any capacity other than the school nurse and the Junior High athletics trainer for over 10 months, I had to have a 6 and a half hour surgery that involved getting 5mm of my radius "sawed" out and put back to together with 7 screws and a metal plate. I had over a year of Physical Therapy, and this was not even meant to "fix" the problem. My doctor said I WILL have to get a total wrist fusion by the age 30 *I am 24 now* which is like just having five fingers on your forearm with out being able to rotate my hand around at all. He also said he never ever seen a patient with this injury recover so well though with the strength and range of motion I had, he said it seems like I never even had surgery, he asked me about it and I told him "I been playing Kengo and Gran Turismo 2 ALOT" seeing as how I could not due any physical activity due to one good fall and I would probably severe a vein or nerve, and since I could not really drive my car that well seeing as my left arm was in a cast that went from around my had past my elbow and right up to my armpit, I wanted to "sword fight and race" I told him. I explained everything about the games and he was actually tasking notes, he told me that the constant gripping and finger manipulation along with the constant thumb movement and the Vibration function of the PS2 controller help facilitate the faster healing and strengthening of my injury. So I looked at my mom and said "see and you said video games were unhealthy". So this article did not surprise me, but I am glad this form of physical therapy is getting attention.
Oh and by the way there has never ever been a day my wrist has not been in mind splitting pain due to a arthritic condition "drying up" and breaking apart my wrist bones *which by the way are 100% cartilage".
