That doesn't really promote discussion, lemme try this new OP:

I really like this show called 'Mock the Week' on BBC2. It satirises the week in several different sketch based challenges.

However, sometimes it can bring up controversial opinions on subjects like religion or crime. Opinions such as Chav concentration camps and PMT protection bunkers. I'd like to know from anyone who watched the show what they thought of it, you can find clips of it on youtube.

Is it acceptable for comedy to go as far as it sometimes does on this show, or should they be more 'PC' and tone it down a little?

Also, so as not to look like a complete dick:
I think hugh does it because it's funny? He'll say it at least once every show. Even when it isn't really related to the topic.

I like this OP better.

They really don't need to tone it down at all. If anything Frankie Boyle in particular needs to tone it up. As shocking as they are the Diana, Richard Hammond and Heath Ledger jokes are some of the funniest bits of the show and more of them would be great. Plus tackling sensitive contemporary issues with a sense of humour always goes down well in my books.

In short, depending how you tackle the subject, I don't really thin anything should be sacrosanct in the world of comedy. If it exists, it is opn to mockery. And I know this sounds pretentious, but I believe if the comedian means what he is saying ironically or says what he says in order to provoke a reaction against the very thing he has said, ten it is acceptable. Otherwise you are into the realms of people like Jim Davidson, just racist, sexist an not funny at all.

Frankie Boyle is the most controversial, which makes him hilarious. Especially the bit about fucking animals or Diana gang bang in a minefield.

I love the show, watch it every Thursday. There's a shed load of them on youtube too.

Frankie (imo) IS the best part of the show and I love how hard I laugh when he (to some) goes too far. The Diana joke, Richard Hammond and the Queer Eye are some of the best moments.

I'm not suggesting it turn into a 25 minute show of Frankie spewing hate at the camera non-stop, but continuing to let him run amok when he sees fit.

He's just one of the intelligent opinions on the show and too many "personalities" on TV are just one big plate of bullshit and gravy.

PS: The DVDs are worth getting for the extras and Frankie's got a live DVD out soonish :D

This^

Seeing him panic about the Large Hadron Collider is one of the funniest things ive ever seen.

Anyone NOT like Andy Parsons? he annoys me...
Andy's a bit of a dweeb think he the weakest one, although I do like Russell but gotta say Frankie is the best, every week starting on Kerry Catona ACES ^_^

Its to do with Sir Jimmy Saville, he said something well known like that, (don't know it off the top off my head)

I believe this is Boyle's last series, as they aren't letting him use his 'best' (read, most obscene) material. Which, given what they actually broadcast, is certainly saying something.

Sometimes it seems as if Frankie is carrying the show. I know they have to cut a fair amount of material to make it a 30 minute show but that still means all the funniest stuff is coming from only one man.

While I love what Frankie does it is sometimes a little disheartening when some of my favourite comedians appear as guests only to be over-shadowed by him (case in point: Greg Proops on a recent episode [http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Kv6PFNmXBbM&feature=PlayList&p=17150F4737CE5137&index=15]).

As far as I can tell it is the general consensus that Andy Parsons is unbelievably awful and should be sacked (it's almost impossible to find a clip on Youtube devoid of at least one derogatory comment towards him).

If I could I would like to replace him with one of the regular guests; David Mitchell, Ed Byrne, Mark Watson and Michael McIntyre being my top choices.

I kind of share Frankie's sense of humor, in that i find stuff that most dont find funny, funny. Michael McIntyre is a legend and should become a regular

Hugh Dennis does a large number of advert voiceovers and impressions. When he says that he's impersonating Sir James Saville O.B.E. which all you young ones won't remember. Google Jim'll Fix it. :)

Jimmy used to DJ Top of the Pops(Google it you whippersnappers) all the time during the 70's, and used to really like Showaddywaddy (Google it :) ) who are a Teddy Boy Leicester band.

Are you paying too much for your car insurance?
