I think it's a bad idea. You really do not want to void your warranty when it comes to an Xbox 360 and getting banned is not fun.

yeah i have to agree i rather 60 bucks for games so microsoft and developers for games like gears of war and other games can make things i like instead of taking away there money

I'm all up for modding, but when it comes to xbox360 I recommend just stepping away. The whole banning thing is kind of whacked, yo.

Disclaimer: I'm not encouraging to mod, I'm only providing facts.

Here's the deal with modding:
If you don't know exactly what you're doing, don't do it.
If you disapprove of illegal actions, don't do it.
If you're doing it for personal gain, don't do it.

Modding is usually just for fun (see: Counter Strike). Anything else can be taken to the court.

The way I've always done console mods is to have two. One unmodded and one modded, usually bought second hand because I'd be voiding the warranty.

I have to ask, what are you modding it for? Back in the day my moddeds were used for weird and wonderful imports, usually in languages I had no hope of understanding, but that's less common nowadays. The last modded console I had was an Xbox, on which I played some weird shit.

For a 360 to play imports you would need to mod it, but I wouldn't know how. Don't mod it if you intend to pirate games (in fact, don't pirate the games), you'll just end up having a careless moment and getting your XBL banned.

I've modded my 360 myself three years ago. I buy games and I download them too. I pay for the good games that I think are worth it and don't for the rubbish. I don't have perminent live account but delve in when I fancy it with month long subscriptions. I've never been banned and I've had no problems. I'm all for supporting the developers but there's a lot of shit out there too. Don't get me wrong I got a 360 because I knew they'd be a large game base to pick and choose from.

How about modding to be able to play imported games exclusive in a different region?

Get a PS3 instead, which has region free games and a new 299$ price tag.

I'm still on the fence about buying it. It's probably going to be £299, which is still around $500.

The fact the console naturally has no region lockout may make it worth importing it, though.
