So not two hours ago I just got back to my home in Aix-En-Provence from Genova, Italy. What was I doing there during a school week you may ask. Well I was participating in GeMUN 2010. That is to say Genova Model United Nations where students suit up and debate on World Issues from the point of view of assigned nations. And I loved it. Its my second MUN after THIMUN Singapore and I met awesome people and had a hell of a time.

Have any of you been to MUN? Did you like it? Which ones, which country and which committees? Are there any specific things you remember and generally how was it?

I'm from the United States--and we had team like this--some at the high school level, some at the college [university] level. My school didn't have it but it's pretty cool from the students I know who got the opportunity to do it at their schools.

I would love to have something like this at my school...even though I would have a hard time not thinking about Hetalia during the whole thing...

I couldn't do that. My reply would end up being "Fuck you! -smashes fist on red button-" everytime.
....It seems that I'd make a great side kick for you, because I'd do the same thing.
Except I'd bring guns.
Tons of guns.

Yes, we have that at our school.

But we, unlike your school, have a good name for it. We call it "UN roleplaying". Because that's what it is. Roleplaying as the representatives of other nations. Not MUN.

Never had that ourselves in our school or anything. If we did, we would probably just do something like pass a resolution saying 'By a unanimous vote, the UN declares that the nation of Latvia is gay' just to piss off the teacher.

Ahhh... What a stupid fucking school it was.
Yes it was. Because Latvia isn't gay. I quite like it there.

Actually, I just pointed randomly at a map for that one, they never did that, but it sounds like something they'd do.
Hmmm... *points randomly at a page on the Escapist*

That's gay

Wasn't that hard, actually.

We did have one in my grade school, but the kids tried to set up one of their own. In the end it broke down and we ended up playing "Presidents" with cards and having an all out war. I ended up playing as the UK, me and Japan made a secret pact and took over all the other countries.

Why is Di Vinci shooting laz0rs out of his eyes?
Because nothing is more scary than an insane old man shooting laz0rs.
