I've got quite a soft spot for adventure games, however i haven't really played that many modern ones (which is a bit of a wishy-washy concept, but let's just say one's released after 2000). Unfortunately Adventure games are a bit of a dying race, or maybe we'll see a comeback... But i'm not holding my breath on it. So i wanted to see if anyone has played any good modern adventure games? Recently i've played The Experiment (aka Experience 112), Syberia 1 & 2 and Shadow of Memories. Also, soon i intend to play Still Life, The Moment of Silence and The Path.

You really don't have a lot of options, I feel your pain. Telltale Games got the Sam n' Max license and made some short games based on them, but they are really not very funny or fun.

Yeah :(, mostly sad days for the adventure genre. I actually enjoyed the Sam & Max Serious 1 & 2 to a certain extent. The puzzles weren't that great but some of the humour and voice acting was really enjoyable.

If you're at Console games, go wherever you can find copies of Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge (Xbox), any of the Ratchet & Clank or Jak games (PS2), anything with the word "Oddworld" in it (PC from Steam).

Most games (that are mediocre) you can tell nowandays are one or two word titles, sometimes including "The", which may as well be "Teh". Seriously, looking at Haze, Prototype, Terminator, Damnation, it's like the state of movies. Make up a title: "the (Verb converted into Noun)". Eg: The Blugeonist, or THE SCIENCER 3: This time it's different. [/random titles rant]

There's a couple of good adventure threads on this forum, for instance Point n Click Adventure Games - Anyone Else Miss 'Em? [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.70010]

My recommendation: A Vampyre Story [http://www.vampyrestory-game.com/], "from the artists that brought you The Curse of Monkey Island".

And Anarchemitis, thanks for bringing back the Oddworld memories! (At least the old PC ones, the new console titles look a bit weird...)

I've started playing Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy) yesterday, and so far it looks promising, with potential for replay value...

This... So very, very much.

The Oddworld games are some of the best games out there and so are the Jak games. The Ratchet games are not as good but still pretty awesome.

Plenty of adventure games around the place, I'd try the following two sites...
