Well really graphics have actually been stagnating since crysis came out in 2007

PC gaming is expensive. There's no way around that. At least the software is cheaper.

Just no, you'd have to upgrade once every 5 years, Pixel shader 3 has been around since like 2006, and there are NO games that have pixel shader 4, and we're in 2010, heck even if they do start doing games that use Pixel Shader 4, you wouldn't have to upgrade for another year or 2 anyway, RAM/processor wise, you'll last forever.
