I think so far Team Fortress 2, Of all Games has the best dialogue.

There are a tonne of phrases that just seem to pop up at the best of times.

There are situational, gun related, charater related lines.

The only way you could capture that is if your soldier in mw3 talked shit after killing a guy running around with ghost lightweight commando and mag knife.

They are all most so off the cuff its like the characters are real people, but you art making them dance, like puppets.

But in all seriousness, does anyone actually think that 41,000 lines of dialogue is going to be a major selling point for this game?
COD was never something anyone played for its rich dialogue...
Are the developers running out of things to brag about?

Over 40,000 lines of dialogue? Okay, and how many different "KAPOW! BOOM! PEW! KABOOOOM!"-noises will there be, I wonder...?

I don't know who you've been listening to, but I've never heard anyone accuse MW2 of having a good story.
It wasn't inherently bad, just a bit disjointed and hard to keep track of. Do you have any specific complaints you'd like to make?
Most of my complaints were summed up pretty nicely by believer. The setting jumped around so many times it was ridiculous (which may be good for atmosphere or gameplay, but detracted from the story) and the reason behind a lot of the events was pretty retarded. They also apparently saw how people enjoyed your character dying in CoD4 and decided to see how many characters they could kill this time.

The enemy was pretty boring - oh no, it's those evil Russians. Again. CoD seems to have a vendetta against Russia for some reason.

And nothing was all that memorable. I'll admit I enjoyed the twist at the end of "No Russian" but not much else stuck out to me. The story was generally only there as an excuse to go to more places and shoot more people.

I am filled with indifference to be honest I was kind of hoping they would talk less I always found the other games much more enjoyable when its not trying to drag me through some turgid story with unlikeable characters hence why I enjoyed MP much much more than the campaign (with voice chat off).
Actually that is unfair and biased as I never touched MW2s campaign after the horrible experience I had with MWs, Oh look I just got nuked huh am I supposed to be feeling something now? and dont get me started with that crippled twat I had to carry around in ghillies in the mist if I could I would have shot him myself.

So yeah I hope their main concentration is on the gameplay because unless they have really upped their game on the dialogue front I am not interested in that side of the game (more does not equal better basically).

Funny enough, it isn't even the developers talking ^.^

You know it's gonna happen.

Also, "Tango down!" x 9001
Somebody give this individual a cookie or at least shake their hand. Ah Ramirez, is there anything Foley didn't tell you to do?

OT: Will this be like in MW2, where half the lines were just the same, but said slightly differently? I got really sick and tired off the dialogue pretty quickly.

I have the big gripe of how Russia somehow went from being unable to deal with it's own domestic problems to invading the USA over a single event. (inb4 someone brings up the US being in the Middle East over 9/11)

You know, I'm all for games not being super realistic, but at least try to follow your own continuity.

People bought into the getting an 11 year old engine to run at 60fps on consoles, so why not this?

(Spoiler alert for MW1 and MW2, for those of you just joining us)

Only two player-controlled characters died in MW2 (Allen and Roach, and the fans are still unsure about the latter, as many things hint to Ghost & Roach being alive), exactly like in MW1 (President Al-Fulani and Jackson).

So, two. Like in MW1. And at least they had quite a good reason for being killed, and it didn't really feel like the devs went "Derp. Let's make them die for no reason 'cause our nuke scene was awesome." Maybe they did try to re-do it, but it felt justified enough for me to not care.

The hell is this? The Halloween series, where characters can be shot in the head and burned and still live?

If they're alive, this series just jumped at least 15 sharks. In a row. While the skis are on fire. And the boat is a rocket ship.

People, please, stop shouting Tango. The only context i can take it in is as a fruit flavoured carbonated drink. TANGO SPOTTED. Guy must love his Tango.

Wow, people really will try to find any excuse to hate on CoD won't they, people are just going completely off-topic to throw insults at the game :)

You were shot in the chest, and so was Ghost. You were critically wounded. Many Youtube videos taken from different perspectives prove it. And there is a rumor that there is an audio file in the game's data in which Ghost says "Why do we have to wear these fireproof vests?" in one mission. Google it.

On top of that, in an interview with IGN Robert Bowling stated "Ghost... isn't exactly dead... but you'll see what I mean soon." [sic] You should also google that.

Wait people play CoD campaigns for the story? I just thought it was the overthetop set pieces and epic soundtrack...

I'd jump in to defend CoD's single player and point out that the campaigns of both MW games were much-lauded and indeed had many excellent lines of dialogue, but GameMaNiAC has already done that for me.

Won't stop the DURR HURR COD SINGLE PLAYER SUCKED idiot parade though I'm sure, even though half them are the "I'll borrow it from a friend just to see how the story ends" types. Yeah, you liked the story, we know. We did too. We won't judge you.

Oh, yay, so we're gonna hear tango down in 3000 different ways, that's good to hear >.<
I agree with the OP, quality over quantity!

I bet if this was battlefield 3 then we would have MUCH less haters, even though Battlefield is going for a story with much more army jargon and less character talk.

As GameManiac said, the COD games have many good lines of dialouge, its just the HURP DURP TANGO 3000 TIMES HURR HURR crowd doesnt look that far into the game. Also, have any of you actually heard what these lines are yet, cos there is a lot of assumption making in this thread.
