Since when was it cynical to believe a company was doing something because it was good for the fanbase, not because it would make for more profit?

Because Battlefield 3 was announced this year. Also, because it's Activision. Since when did they care about us? This is definitely them scrambling to keep the PC gamers who haven't already been scared off.
