Looks interesting enough. Getting into a card game in the earliest days is also pretty appealing. And while people will probably buy their way to victory there will be far more simply redeeming gold for packs and what not to make up for it. I'll try it out and see how it goes simply because I like the idea and premise if nothing else.

I wish Bethesda would develop the next game in the series instead. I don't see the need for spin-offs. And why MTG when they have their own successful franchise?

Yes, I know - It's a joke.
The game looks very interesting, but like with Minecraft: No Steam version = No sale for me. Also, price is a bit high for what is essentially an indie-budget multiplayer game.

Scrolls is pretty fun, and (at the moment at least) the pay elements are _extremely_ minor - each week theres a list of 6 scrolls you can unlock with paid shards or normal gold, plus the two starting decks you didn't choose can be unlocked with either paid shards or normal-play-earned gold.

As someone who loves making magic decks but wasted thousands of dollars on MTG, Scroll is a non brainer purchase.

Well I can honestly say that I was more interested in the game when I didn't know fuck all about it aside from it's name and developer.

Does look interesting, even though I haven't done any card-based gaming since Pokemon first came around in the UK, turn based strategy will always deserve a look. Obviously people are going to complain and say it's not as good as Minecraft and inevitably won't sell as well, but that's an entirely unfair comparison. I don't think it says anything about Mojang's talents if Scrolls doesn't do as well; it's tough to compete with a game that's limited only by people's imaginations.

It looks like fun but I dread the whole trading card and microtransaction (p2w) thing. I don't play Magic anymore and every game I have seen with such systems either weren't good or were good games that were ruined by the toxicity inherent to such systems.

Yeah, my first thought was about the whole micro-transaction thing as well. That said, I haven't actually seen anything about the existence of micro transactions in scrolls.

The game appears to bear a powerful resemblance to Magic: The Gathering, with a healthy dose of Archon [http://www.amazon.com/Strategic-Simulations-Inc-Archon-Ultra/dp/B000H87W0Q/ref=pd_sim_sbs_sw_1] thrown in for good measure. The presence of "shards" suggests that while Scrolls is a conventionally-priced, single-purchase game, it will also incorporate freemium elements.
Hmmm, I was going to go with Magic meets Chess meets King's Bounty but I guess Archon fits the bill.

Critically it might be received well but financially... Not so much.

As it is now, there's no appeal. It's like Magic the Gathering with a dose of Heroes 3, we already have a Magic the Gathering and a dozen other games like it.
