See, I cannot see it as such. He's doing a project based entirely on knowledge we already have. The question is basically "How curious are people?" from what I can tell. The only answer to that is "incredibly curious". I can't see what other results such an "experiment" could create.
Because numbers are fun. People are curious, very curious, but what does that mean numerically? How many times does the average player click on the cube? Of those who buy chisels, how many times did they click before buying them? Do any players upgrade from one chisel to another? How many players return for more than one session?

There's a lot of data to be mined here. Sure, not anywhere close to all of it is useful, but it's there to be extracted.

WTF did i just watch.. dear me hes fallen far from the days of bullfrog. at one time he was a creative genius and now every time i wee him mentioned i expect something insane
It's a fake. It's not the real peter.

Look careful at the name in the title. "Molydeux" instead of "Molyneux" It's a relatively well known parody persona, who just makes up and says crazy shit. It's not a real person, it's some guy making a joke twitter account basically. Don't worry I was confused a bit at first, one letter is easy to overlook, and I find the article awkwardly written since it mentions both the real Peter and the parody in rapid succession.

here's a direct quote form the article that should help clear things up

"""this time that someone is Molyneux's Twitter twin Molydeux. Molydeux has released a new Cube video"""

Remember guys, you're wasting your money on something that will be completely irrelevant and nowhere near as important as Molyneux thinks it will be. That's not to say that there's not a little bit of me that is curious. It's just overridden by the skepticism towards this man's "project" and I see it as nothing more than a money making scheme, despite his denial of such.
I'm actually very interested in the project. Even you, who seemingly only came here to post your scepticism, admit to being a little curious. It's a very powerful human motivation, and even though whatever is in the box will probably be worthless junk...it might not be.

That's not just curiosity, it's hope. Nobody will buy the magic pickage just to sate their curiosity as to what's in the box, but they will do so because they hope something awesome will be inside. Very potent mixture.
