Yeah, they were a bit unprofessional, and Sony's probably hoping to sneak PS+ past us (if the Xbone was a better 360 with no other strings attached, there'd be outrage over Sony's paid online), but I was pretty content to see Sony make a few snark comments at Microsoft's expense, Microsoft is being a prick and deserves to be treated in kind.

What is this? Molyneux making sense? how dare he!

ANd again i see micrisoft mudslinging from people and thne they go praise sony, not for doing good, but for doing same thing everyone else did in the past, its just that the competition gone into the monkeyland, and suddenly a one eyed man is kind in the land of the blind.

I have nothing to say to that. To me the idea of offer achievements for watching tv is fucking insane... so it's probably going to be huge.
you know, i always rate what i watch on IMDB. recently i been looking up my vote history, and noticed that i got over 3300 titles voted for. and i end up wishing they would show that somewhere else than private history.

Bunch of achievements for doing certain exercises infront of the Kinect while The Biggest Loser is on. 400 million consoles sold.

Yeah, two frats going at it... if one frat is ordering roofies in bulk and the other frat is calling the cops.

In unrelated news, false equivalencies make you look fucking stupid.

I honestly dont see why the Microsoft conference was bad, it was all just games, games and more games. Isnt that what we wanted them to show in the other years? But Microsoft now sucks so hurr durr their conference sucked

Sadly console's are always several years behind PC in the respect which I always thought was a good thing.
Unless I'm mistaken, games I download to my Vita never have to activated online to play. I don't even need a separate program to play them. I can also delete, store on my laptop, and reinstall anytime, again, without using the internet or any program recording how many times I do so. Or redownload from the store.

I could be missing something, but the Vita's downloads are a lot more convenient than Steam. Therefore, it might actually be that Steam is actually several years behind handheld gaming.
???

If you store it on a laptop, of course you can reinstall any time without a connection. The steam equivalent would be to move the game folder to a temporary drive and place it back when you want it, without an internet connection. Or redownload from the store...

I get the hookup online to play on steam is a notch against it in the comparison, but your added point about installation is on equal terms.

Some friends of mine have steam + games installed to portable hard drives and usb3 keys so they can play on whatever computer they happen to be at without installing anything. Naturally, they need to log into their accounts and therefore need an internet connection in order to do this.

Molyneux may be a bit of a space cadet sometimes. But when he makes sense, he's one of the more rational voices in the industry.

He may be an industry veteran for video games, but that's like calling Uwe Boll an industry veteran for movie production.
Look he might be a shadow of his former self, but if you ever played PC game in the 90s, he was standing at the top with Will Wright and Sid Meier. The guy actually invented a game genre, god game. But overstating has always been part of his personality.

Sony and MS playing off each other is only going to benefit one group of people.

The consumer.

Yeah, I'm okay with that. It's called competition. You watch what your competitor does, and then you try to steal his customers by offering something better. Granted an entire business model shouldn't be based on just not being what the other guy is, but if that's what your customers want, well, you'd be stupid (MS) to ignore that.

So I'm sorry if the aristocracy of the game dev community are unhappy with competition happening, but it's a great time to be a consumer of video games.

Big words from someone who's been lying to his "customers" for 10 years straight.
Mistake there he been doing it way longer then that, the guy always overstated, but he a game designer mainly, so he always tell what he want to game to be, not what the programmer and artist are actually capable of doing, for the guy work at the early stage of the production.

Always online is simple for me. As a consumer, just show me why I should be always online and I'll be happy with it. At the moment, it just means game sale authentication. I don't want that.
Say what you like about Molyneux, he's hit the nail on the head with this one.
How so? All he's done is encourage MS to be more persuasive with their BS. I don't care how you dress up the "mandatory" online thing, it'll always be a thing that exists to benefit publishers. Always online can be called a "feature" only when it is OPTIONAL.

For example; technically my iTunes library is "always online", attached to the cloud. But when I take my non-3G iPad on the road, my music, games, apps, and videos all still work if they are on my iPad's internal storage. Now I like the idea of not having to rely on my iPad's paltry 16GB of storage and have all my media at my disposal, but Apple gives me the option to use it, or not, as I see fit. That's called giving the customer what they want.

He's not saying it needs to be dressed up, he's saying there has to be such incentive for the gamers that we decide it's worth going through these daily checks in order to gain the benefits. I suppose the obvious example of this in action is Steam, where the benefit of the sales out ways the issues caused by it's often heavy online requirements. Well for a lot of us at least.
