Sitting here at work, wondering what else I could be doing right now. I always thought that if I had a job I loved, that it wouldn't matter about the money as long as I have enough to live.

What do you think? Would you rather have a job that paid you lots of money, for doing something you hated/bored you to tears for 8 hours a day? Or would you rather be getting just enough, and enjoy the ever loving hell out of those 8 hours?

I'd rather just get enough, but enjoy what I'm doing. I see no reason to waste 8 hours of my life everyday just doing something that bores me to hell.

for me, i probably say to get the job that u love doing because u can be making crap money but as long as u do wat u love it pays off in the end. plus , if u do wat u like u have a better chance of gettin a promotion and makin the money u want win-Win

I'd much rather do something i love than something that i would get a lot of money for. If, however, i could combine those two things, score!

Fun, most definitely. I can live off of simple things, like ramen and instant miso soup, and my house is pretty simple in decoration minus the few odd geeky things I have scattered about. I love doing what I love, even if success and wealth don't come as part of it.

Seconded. I cannot stand doing what I don't like. Some can do it, and they make lots of money doing it. I simply cannot tolerate monotony.

Well, if I worked really hard and got payed a ton, it still wouldn't be fun. Isn't working really hard and being unhappy so you can have fun kind of self-defeating?
I would definitely go for the fun job.

Another point for the low-pay, high fun bandwagon. Money is supposed to buy you fun things (aside from things you need). But if your job is boring, you're probably going to spend more time being bored than enjoying yourself. That, and I can't focus well when doing boring jobs. I work much, much harder when I actually enjoy what I'm doing.

Fun whats the point of doing something you hate? You might make money, but then each day you just get more hateful of the job which isn't healthy probably.

Second option please. Also what exactly is just enough covering? just enough for rent, food and utilities? Or just enough for rent, food, utilities, cable and internet, and xbox live? What if it is a smaller apartment? You don't have to reply I'm just trying to poke holes in your statement

Money can't buy happiness, but it can buy a lifetime of misery, regret, and desperate attempts to deny the former by buying more shit!

To quote a friend of my mother's "Money might not buy happiness but it certainly makes it easy to be miserable."

With that in mind, money without a second thought. I would rather work two or three dead end jobs with minimal sleep - which I may have to - and save everything I earn so that I might be able to better myself in a few years then "have fun" with a single low income job forcing me into mediocrity. Simple my goals all involve and surround themselves with money, thus I shall do whatever necessary to earn enough of it.

I gave up a well-paying job that I couldn't stand, and spent years as a broke student to get myself a fun job. Yeah, go with something you enjoy.

If the money was like footballer money (at least £75k per week)then I'd pick the crap from pensioners asses with my pinkie for that, but if it was just like a slightly larger wage then I'd definitely take the fun job any day.
