I'm not sure how many people here have ever played any kind of monster hunter game, but I must say I love the franchise!
I just recently (as in one week ago)bought Monster Hunter Freedom Unite on the PSP and I have to say I was very impressed. The thing I was most impressed about in the game was the fact that the game wants you to figure some things out yourself, like how to kill certain monsters.
The game is not what you would call an "easy game", but I've found it to be quite enjoyable.

Anyways, I've been reading that monster hunter 3 will be on the PS3 pretty soon and there's also a monster hunter on the Wii.
Monster Hunter has a great opportunity to be a huge hit in america. Monster Hunter has amazing Coop and on the gathering hall missions, not only do other people seem helpful, in some cases, they are very much needed.

I sadly haven't heard if Capcom has plans to bring this great title to the 360 (as well as PS3). In my opinion, since there are so many 360 owners and so many people on live, I thought that with a little advertising, Monster Hunter 3 could be a pretty big hit.

Anywho, do you guy think monster hunter should come to 360? Would it even be a good idea for it to come to 360?

I love monster hunter, i've clocked over 90 hours of it, and im still only HR3! Its fucking hard. Still i'm the only one i know that plays it, so i have no one to co-op with (ive tried xlinkkai, but it hates me)

I would die if it came to PS3, I don't think i'd ever need another game :D

LOL, it's supposed to come to PS3 in american next year. I wish it'd come out on 360 so I wouldn't have to shell out more money, plus I'm sure the 360's part system would come in handy. Hehe

I never got it really. It's a fairly decent game, but with the hype it gets from my friends, you'd think it was the best game ever or something.

Oh, Monster Hunter. I don't really see the need to put it on 360, seeing as it looks like a popular in Japan title, Japan being the country where the 360 isn't exactly the top console.

Then why bring Metal Gear Rising to the 360?
Capcom wants to sell games, not consoles.

Because Metal Gear is pretty popular in the States and Europe I think. While Monster Hunter by the looks seems to get most of it's popularity from Japan. A port later might be possible, but for now it doesn't look like it.

You may have a point, but I think if they advertise correctly that the game could sell pretty big in the USA. I mean a commercial or two and BAM! monster hunter. Well, I wish it would work that way.

Do you have a link to that info? I'm just curious to read it.

There's a demo for this out on the marketplace called Lost Planet 2! Just kidding, but the simularities are strikingly simular, no matter who much Capcom denies that didn't influence each other.

I have a love hate relationship (i.e i cant decide which one i am with it) With monster hunter. It WREAKS of Capcom, I hate capcom usually because of this, But with friends its quite an enjoyable experience.

Calling Kut Ku's Fluffy is fun too!

Someone else said that, but like I said before, Capcom's not trying to sell systems, it's trying to sell games. More people own 360's in America than people own PS3's in Japan.
So in all honesty, it would be a smarter move to bring to to the 360 because more people OVERALL play it than the PS3.

(That's why Metal Gear Rising, a Japanese game, is coming to 360)

I personally think it would be fucking brilliant. I love MH, but playing co-op is so inconvenient on the PSP.

True but mgr is a stealh shooter and sure americans will like that mgr BUT take this into concideration. monter hunter is and RPG and between the american 360 owners and the japenese ps3 owners wich do you think will play rpg's more. Now if this were a halo or gears of war game the 360 would get it first but it is not, so the biggest demographhic would be the japanese ps3 market.
Actually the biggest is the Wii, lol. But, once again, Capcom is trying to sell games.
In Japan, there is 127,076,183 people. Considering American more than double that number number... uhm.. yeah. About 3.4 million Japanese people play games online. Think of the numbers here.
(i got the info from.. http://www.gamespot.com/news/6103414.html)

Now, in America there's 304,059,724 million people, 72% of them are gamers...(They count cell phones too, so it might be a bit lower, but still, the US has more gamers than Japan's entire population)
REALISTICALLY, it would be better to bring it to 360 just because of those numbers.
I'm not making it up ---> http://www.gamespot.com/news/6188668.html

It would be taking a gamble, like when America first got Pokemon. It was so popular in Japan, but would US like it? I don't know.. I believe it was a hit.

Also, I don't quite understand what you were saying.. It almost seemed as if you think Americans only like shooters. I think Final Fantasy is pretty popular here.. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that an RPG? Also, Mass Effect, Oblivion.. ect. ;)
I believe 360 needs more RPGs, although PS3 has less RPGs than than the 360 does... :)

It would be a smart move to sell more.

Oh and by the way, 360 sold higher than PS3's did in Japan recently. :)

Well, I first had the original Monster Hunter for PS2 and I liked it so much that Yian Kut-Ku was my username for most online anythings for the next year. (missed out on the online part though...) I heard that the game would be coming for the wii a long time ago, but I would be disappointed because 1. Monster Hunter would need more online power for 4 people at the same time tracking the lao-shan and 2. it just wouldn't work with the wii because then all of a sudden you need to use the motion controls to swing greatswords and aim bowguns. It just wouldn't work as well.

well you can hook up controllers (normal ones) to the Wii, so motion sensors isn't that big of a concern. I'll buy it when it comes out in the US, I have a Wii, 360 and soon to be PS3. So I'm set for whatever console it comes on, lol.

I just wanted it to come to 360 mainly because XBL has the best online of all the systems. The party system would work wonders on Monster Hunter!

-snip- :)
ill aproach this individually first of all the wii sucks so that is out. And if you look care fully it says in the article that the main reason the people bought the 360 in japan is because a very popular rpg came out for it So a 60$ game inspired the japanese market to buy a 400$ system So with that evidence it seems people in japan like rpg's. Also pokemon really isn't a hardcore rpg it is more like little tikes first rpg. Many people who play the 360 play rpg's and other things. but what i was trying to say is that they definetly play more halo than ff. Also people play ff But japan cant get enough of it I mean there final fanasy 13 is coming a year earleir there than here. There there is a ps3 exlusive demo of final fantasy 13 that is longer than the advent children movie. here it is http://www.psu.com/Final-Fantasy-XIII-demo-to-last-over-two-hours-News--a0004522-p0.php

also Mass effect and oblivion are fpsrpg's and really focus more on the sifi and fantasy element more than the rpg element

Here is a list of the final fantasies and other rpg's sold in japan and america

Final fantasy tactics
1.35 million in Japan, 950,000 in US

Final fantsy 12
2.4 million in Japan, 1.7 million in US

Final Fantasy III 1.06 million in Japan, 460,000 in North America

Feb-02

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King3.6 million in Japan, 430,000 in North America
n.america

Final Fantasy X-2 1 million in North America, 2 million in Japan

Final Fantasy X
1.00 million

Feb-02
japan
Final Fantasy X
2.30 million

If you look at almost any rpg series they sell more copies in japan than america and if you want to check these numbers for yourself here aere the links

http://vgsales.wikia.com/wiki/Final_Fantasy
http://www.video-games-survey.com/software.htm
http://vgsales.wikia.com/wiki/Best_selling_Square-Enix_games

I would like you to find more rpg titles that sell more than america than in japan if that happens i will admit the ps3 will be a good move for capcom

also im REALLY sorry i posted this 3 times my message wouldnt qoute
Don't worry about the tri-post, it happens sometimes to the best of us.
Still, I wouldn't say Oblivion was an FPSRPG, I used a sword the whole time.. Maybe I was the only one? Anywho, random game moment.

If you look back at your stats, you should notice that the majority of those game were in fact... Final Fantasy. I do think that 13 & the MMO 14 are extremely anticipated titles coming to the US.

I really enjoy Last Remnant, which was a RPG (an interesting one at that) and Blue Dragon. Both were very good RPGs.

Now, monster hunter is not an RPG like Final Fantasy is. That's like comparing house cat to a saber tooth tiger.
Final Fantasy has always been a TURN based RPG.
In Monster Hunter... well lets just say you cut, roll to the side, get charged, cut again. Some may call it a RPG, but it's more of a standard action game. Sure you customize your character (in the beginning, not that it matters), but the game is about monsters, not your character's developement and story.

I think it could be a huge hit on 360 and PS3. Word of mouth does a lot more than people think. I have already convinced 5 of my XBL friends to go buy monster hunter for their PSPs...

BTW, why does it matter if pokemon is a not a hardcore game? I always thought it was supposed to be geared towards the younger gen. I was just giving you an example of a gamble that paid off and honestly, Pokemon's seem a lot less appealing than monster hunter. ;)

I wouldn't generalize American's or Japanese either, I just to live in Asia (Singapore to be exact) and you'd be surprised what you would see in the gaming world there. Call of Duty 4 sold very well in Singapore and that's... an FPS (dun dun dunnnn). Just saying neither of use can generalize about gamers, I will include myself in this as well so I don't cause offense.

Anywho, the whole point of this thread was that I thought MH would be cool to have on the 360, at the time I thought it was coming out for PS3 as well, but I was wrong. I still believe it would work, just because Monster Hunter is different, exciting and not turn based.
