I've got it.

Monster Hunter Tri: When you grow out of Animal Crossing.

It has alot of similarities, except with a monster gimmick involving having to get armour and weapons. You even collect random growing things, fish, insects, and catalogue creatures. My brother has found the fun and once I truly get into it hopefully soon will I and then online should be basically an early monster style version of Lost Planet 2

Why no mention of the lance?

That's what I'm using.
Thank you for reminding me. I really shouldn't write reviews when it's late. But I added it now.

looks really cool. im getting Homebrew soon, so i might get that on the SD card.

im happy for the no friend codes, that and the peer-based online is another thing Brawl failed me on.
If you could keep your declarations of piracy to yourself, that would be great, thanks.

I hear a lot about this game, and I see it gets some pretty good reviews.
However, I think I might be missing something here.

I saw the youtube video.
And there were one thing that I noticed that I found rather weak.
The monster doesn't respond to your hits, at all.
This might not seem like much, few games do. But this game is based around monster hunting, and your character and the monster have separate animations that don't interact.

Also, I could be wrong here, but I get the feeling like this is one massive grind.
correct me if I'm wrong, but you get a request to kill monster X.
You go to the place where monster X lives, you spend a while looking for him, while killing some other smaller monsters.
You fight monster X and take proof back home.

This sounds like a WoW quest.

I didn't play it, and I hope you can convince me it's not the case.
Cause I could use a good game for my Wii.

It is a grind, in many ways. But it's an immersive grind. It's classic pattern recognition. Dodge, attack, dodge, attack. There's no numbers rolling in the background. The game NEVER stops. You can't pause it while you go through menus. Well, that's not true. You could hit the "Home" button on your Wii controller. But that's not really "pausing".

Really? You're gonna gip Capcom $50?
i know its pretty un-legit, but most of the wii games i have been excited for so far has turned out either meh or just bad, and when its a franchise im new add, im not taking chances (so far, Mario Kart Wii, Wii Sports Resort and Mario and Sonic olympics have failed me).

also, my 800£ are in my opinion better spent on Blazblue and Final Fantasy 1 and 2 Ipod Touch than a series ive never tried before.
Do buy it if you end up liking it. Although here in the US, there a FREE DEMOS of it at every Gamestop. Even without preorder!
i know about the demos in Gamestop, but here in Denmark they are a bunch of greedy swines. we still have to pay full retail price (55£) to buy stuff like SSBB or Darksiders (Darksiders was supposed to get a massive price drop). plus they dont have demos here :(

My weapon in that video is weak. Some weapons can stun them but it depends on where you hit them. Some monsters can't be hurt in the front cuz of their armor

If anyone has a PSP, I'd highly recommend Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. Suprisingly, it actually makes this game seem small. While Tri may have a leg up on Unite for weekly event quests, it's monster boss roster is actually relatively small. Tri has in total 18 boss monsters, all mostly different. Unite has in total 34, almost double. While it's true some might say that a number of those are a tad recycled such as the difference between a regular Khezu and a Red Khezu, both fight VERY differently.

Tri also uses an engine that doesn't look too much different from its PSP counter part, not saying that it's not a spectacular looking game, it most certainly is. But the difference between the two is minimal at best.

Tri was originally planned for PS3 exclusive release, but due to business decisions (contrary to what some fans believe) it was moved to Wii exclusive. Do the math ladies and gentleman, over 85% of their fans are in Japan, and how many people in Japan have Wii's? You'd make that decision too.

First Off: It is waaaaayy too late at night for me to give a poop about people who have nothing better to do than check over everything I type. Were my errors really that noticable?

Second: I didn't think about the sword and shield thing.

Third: Yes, I did forget Cha-Cha, sorry bout that. I partially blame My Name Is Earl and the fact that it is getting very late.

Finally: Any gamer will honestly be able to pick this game up. It's faaaaaarrrr easier than the PSP titles, in my opinion. As a veteran, I've had no problems and have only faint twice the whole game. (One of which was me trying to do something stupid.) No failed missions. One of my friends, who has never played a Monster Hunter title, is adjusting quite will to the gameplay.
yeah, there are a few spelling mistakes, and this coming from the guy who failed 2 english classes because I wouldnt correct my spelling(the grammer nazis just LOVE me)

I mean like, you cant just expect to buy the game and instantly master it (like 90% of the idiots at my school think they can do)
you have to be able to set aside a little time in order to play it, I'm semi-grounded right now and I expect that when Im able to play my wii again I will have NO hope to kill the gobul(Im stuck on that bastard, he keeps running out the clock)
but thats not the point, its like, you gotta know yer shit when playing the game, and you cant just expect to play this 10 minutes a month and still beat the game easily.
that make sense, or am I just screwing things up?

Great review, it makes me want to go and get this game! I'm really glad this made it's way to the Western market.
