So I just landed a job at Canada's Wonderland for the Halloween Haunt as a monster in one of the mazes and this inspired this thread. What I'm asking is what is your favorite/most hated type of monster you can encounter in fiction? These archetypes include zombies/mummies, clowns, living scarecrows, vampires, werewolves, giant insects, ghost/evil children... Mine are clowns, since I think those are just creepy and I have problems understanding how people find that funny

I enjoy werewolves, vampires, and zombies, but if I had to choose, it would be zombies.

Easy to kill, and I want to wear a hoodie in the zombie apocalypse so that I might become a Hunter.

Necromorphs from Dead Space, they look so human, and yet... aren't.

The Thing from the eponymous film by John Carpenter, and the fact that it can be anyone or anything with very few ways of finding out whether it's the thing or not.

i like vampires. i just enjoy the stereotypical view of one living in a castle, terrorising a neighbouring village, and either sleeping in a coffin or playing a pipe organ all day.

i cant stand reading about a lot of the other types. werewolves for example, always struck me as a bit of a joke. their lack of control makes it hard for me to take them seriously. and ghosts... well, unless it goes into detail, i always get annoyed that the motives of said ghost aren't explained very well. often i find it's along the lines of "i'm dead, so you should be dead as well".

Large Marge from Pee Wee Herman: The movie. No joke, shit makes me jump every time, and makes my insides all hot and uncomfortable.

My most hated type is vampires. Not the blood sucking kind, the Twilight kind. They are scary in a psycological way.

Favourite: Shape-shifters, they're just so awesome.

I don't think I have a least favourite.

That's hard for me, I guess it's a tie between Xenomorphs from the Alien series, Necromorphs from Dead Space and the spirtual and mental Demons from Silent Hill as my favourites.
Come to think of it I also have a fondness for Cloverfield and King Kong and Godzilla and all other giant monsters. Four way tie.

As for least favourite... probably the entire human race, we ARE monsters don't try to dress it up.

What about really old but look seventeen movie-inspiring pedophile vampire (Edward)?

OT: The greatest fictional omnster I can think of is poor story progression and description.

OT:FOR REAL: I hate evil clowns. The scariest episode of supernatural I ever watched was the evil clown one, that thing was pure scary/insane/evil/clown-ish. Normal clowns are fine albeit a bit silly but I HATE evil clowns.

My Favourite is definitely the werewolf (like turns into an actual wolf. They just remind me of my black labrador cross who is overly hairy but just the most loving pet ever.

If you were freaked by the clown episode then we absolutely have to show Matt, he'll shit himself.
