On the 5th of October 1969, Monty Python's Flying Circus aired. For those who don't know (and why don't you know?) Monty Python is a comedy group which began in 1969 with Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, Michael Palin.

Some of their work includes:
Monty Python's Flying Circus (1969?1974)
And Now for Something Completely Different (1971)
Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1974)
Monty Python's Life of Brian (1979)
Monty Python Live at the Hollywood Bowl (1982)
Monty Python's The Meaning of Life (1983)

So to celebrate, post your favourite Monty Python moments/sketches, and why.

Personally, I'm a big fan of 'The Holy Grail'. I found some of their early Flying Circus stuff a bit hit and miss but in the grand scheme of things, they more than made up for with sketches like 'How not to be seen', mainly because it's played completely straight and is still hilarious after 42 years!

Well 42 is the answer to everything. I'm not Entirely sure what the question is that Monty Python asks, But it just got answered.

Don't people usually celebrate milestones in multiples of 5 or 10?

Anyway, personally my favourite movie scenes would have to be;

The "guards scene" in The Holy Grail.

The "Biggus Dickus" scene in Life of Brian.

It probably includes voles and a stretched owl.

EDIT: And if you translate it to Hungarian and back to English, it's "I will not buy this record, it is scratched."

"...and there was much rejoicing."

Just started watching a few episodes of Flying Circus again, after a gap of several years. Still damn good fun.

I first watched the entirety of Monty Python's Flying Circus a couple of years ago when I got my wisdom teeth removed. Or, to put it another way, I first watched Monty Python's Flying Circus while I was under the influence of a boatload of painkillers.

I almost died when this came on:

In retrospect, laughing just made me hurt more. Good thing I didn't care at the time...those memories will last forever. ^_^

So Monty Python, how do you feel about turning 42 years old?
How I feel? 'Tis but a scratch.
