Its present in almost every action single player game, why isnt it recognised in the media?
Red Dead Redemption for example, you are a guy that used to do bad things, now to make up for it you (although forced) help the government. You still help a lot of people without being forced and some give you the option of saving someone or not.

This kind of thing is present in a lot of games, the main character are usually someone to admire, there they are, saving the world, doing the right thing. Still this group of genres (FPS/RPG/Action Adventure/etc) are still only recognised by the media as games where you shoot people, and that really bugs me. In my opinion the morale in this games ends up by actually teaching the player over time. After so many games of playing as the noble hero that saves the world I guess that if you had the chance you could make something to be proud of instead of being a dick.

Because video games is the "new evil" to be feared. It's just like rock music and all those other things before that, which was corrupting the children(somebody please think of the children!). All of that was until something newer and more "corrupting" was found, which could then be blamed.

Anyway, video games is still a somewhat new media, especially the storytelling part, so give it time and the heat will blow over. Besides, it's only stupid people(read Fox News) who refuses to see reality and continues to scream nonsense.

Oh, and also, video games has really recieved all that much attention here in Denmark, but following here, and gaming news in general, I know a lot of shit is coming from the US media(not to single any nation out, that's just what I read).

Oh! You mean morals ... people, and I mean humans in general, like to jump to conclusions about things they don't actually know anything about.
It's called ignorance.

I like morale in video games, too ... like when your heroes don't actually get hurt, but are forced off the battlefield 'cos they get discouraged.

Jagged Alliance 2 is great at Morale it depends how the squad is going, who gets hit, what reputation they have, and how the other characters feel about that character, only Flo cares if Biff gets killed, but if Gus Tarballs gets killed everyone wants to quit.
