Howdy, sorry to bother again, but I'm having a few more issues with my network. I'm now running a network cable to my computer instead of using wireless, and it registers the network. The problem is that it doesn't give my desktop a default gateway. Does anyone know how to fix it? I've reset the router, my computer, switched ports on the router, but still nothing. Thanks if you can help.

Have you done a factory reset on your router? Or just the unplug reset? Also try reseting your wireless card by disabling it then enabling it. again.
I'm not using wireless. I was for a while, but now I'm not, and I'm on a wired connection now.

Oh, and the IP set for my desktop is 169.254.86.118, and one for another computer is 174.112.8.36. What could be causing it to be set to a different network address altogether?

What you've got yourself there with the 169.254 IP is a link-local address [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Link-local_address]--your computer isn't being given a valid address for Internet purposes, so it's assigned something in that default block of addresses. Is your wired connection set up to request an IP address from your router via DHCP?

Yeah, it is. I know that it's the local IP address, but the problem is that they're essentially different networks. They would both need to be 174.112.8 to be on the same network, right?
