Multi-platform is the way everything should go.
Multi-platform games are bland crap for the most part. I prefer the first-party exclusives where a company shovels money at a project to show off what their console hardware is capable of.
I'm afraid it's a bit worse than that. There would seem to be a slowly but steadily mounting pile of evidence that would seem to strongly suggest that the 360s reliance on the DVD format is starting to hold multi-platform games back. The Lost Planet 2 situation is the latest example and it's highly unlikely that it will be the last.
The 360 is supposed to be a current generation platform but it's still using the last generations format. And now this is starting to cause some notable problems.
As far as the 360s lifespan is concerned it has an awful lot riding on Project Natal. If Natal doesn't produce the desired results than Microsoft may be forced to develop and release a new Xbox sooner than expected, hopefully with a better format, for the purpose of keeping up with the PS3.
In the meantime PS3 exclusives would seem to be the most promising way to go for the hardcore gamer.
