Remember that guy the Escapist covered awhile back who was doing the 8-bit remakes of Left4Dead, as well as a few other games? I think about that guy a lot, and combined with the topic of the week here at the Escapist (FF7 remakes if you've been under a rock) I want to see this hit the mainstream. Hell, New Super Mario Bros already did it!
Sure, Bionic Commando and Dark Void at 8-bit downloads, but those were full-fledged products on their own.
Imagine if you will, De-making classic franchises:
Fallout 3 as a turn-based isometric would make some fanboys happy, but it would totally underscore the flimsy main plotline. On the other hand, it would totally make Operation Anchorage worth playing.
Does FF13 hold up if you strip out the shiny graphics? Throw a 16-bit version out there and find out! At least we wouldn't have to suffer through the voice acting.
Yes, actually, Dragon Age COULD be bigger. Let's just throw it on the old Baldur's Gate engine and keep pouring on content till our writers collapse from exhaustion!
Obviously whatever game does this needs a strong pedigree to revert to and shouldn't be reliant on 3D to make it work, but what else would you guys like to see De-Made?
