More memory for my PS3

Recently I noticed that my PS3 is running out of Gigs. I'm left with 806 Megabytes and 37 Gigabytes and I don't know what I should do, I have a plan to upgrade but I'm not that much of a tech guy and I don't want my saved games and trophies to be deleted so can I get some help?

Look in your owner's manual. It tell's you how to upgrade the harddrive, and back up all saved data from the existing one. Videos can also be found on Sony's PS3 website link here [http://playstation.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/362]. Any 2.5-inch laptop harddrive of 9 or 11mm thickness will fit into the PS3.

This Harddrive [http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148374] for example would work, and will give you double the capacity of the largest stock PS3 available.

Any PS3 hard drive can be swapped out with a standard laptop hard drive. It's pretty easy to do and hard drives are super cheap these days. You could get a 500+ GB for less than eighty bucks.

He's right there. mines an 80gb and i honestly don't think ill fill it. but it is quite easy to replace, also think i read somewhere that there was a limit on the size of the Hardrives that it could read, but im pretty sure they take a 320gb and if thats not enough for a PS3 then there's something VERY wrong woth you

I've got a 40GB drive in mine also. I'd considered upgrading but I might as well wait until it's full. Here's a guide:

Seems pretty straight forward. The only thing is, using the method shown here, you'll need access to some kind of portable storage device (external hard drive, unless you've got a ridiculously big flash drive). Enjoy!

My xbox is a 20gb. And I haven't filled that up. My Ps3 is an 80gb. I will never fill that up.

i filled my 60 gig, so i swapped it out for a 350 gig one.

if you want to keep your game saves and everything, you need an external drive and have to back up the old drive and restore it to the new one, everything is transferred over

Replace the hard drive with a 500 gig one, like mine.

O/T: Your Trophies and all online progress for games like MW2 will be saved away from your PS3 so you can't loose them, you just have to back up and files and game saves onto an external HDD before swapping out HDDs on your PS3, then swap them back
