Patch 'em all into the credits, at the very least.
Totally agree, I was about to suggest it myself. Most who play it will have a network connection, send out a patch to add the names into the credits. They deserve it, if they've been working on it at all.

If I didn't feel that Rockstar's ruthless hours and Super Villain behavior is what make their games so great. I'd complain openly but Rockstar need to bring everything to the brink dammit! Those hat physics aren't going to programme themselves!.
The ruthless hours aren't a Rockstar thing, it's an industry wide problem [http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2011/05/the-death-march-the-problem-of-crunch-time-in-game-development.ars].

Seriously? Geez, the LA Noire credits were at least half a lunch break. I suppose the only plausible argument was that Sisyphus himself couldn't stand programming the credit sequence anymore and they just got the short end of the stick.

Because nothing will make you want to give someone money for their product like them randomly shoving ads for it in your face while you're trying to do something else...

Frankly I'm more concerned that developers are being let go as soon as a project is nearing completion. I really hope this isn't a common occurrence.
It is. EA and Activision are the kings of that, firing everybody except some executives the day before release, then hiring new support staff, keeping the bonus they promised to employees for themselves.

That is a very scary article, for sure. The structure of video game development has always been a concern for me as there is no set, ideal way to develop a game, unlike with other media where it's a fairly easier structure. Crunch times can be a byproduct of unogranized game development which I hope that I, or anyone else who wants to get into the entertainment industry, can change.

But anyway, back on topic, just patch in the names at the end of the credits and no harm no foul. Simple as that, really.

Sometimes I wonder why people hate big corporations so much. "Surely they just provide some products and services which people enjoy?" I think to myself. "Surely it's not as bad as people say it is..." Then I find out about shit like this.

I bet those executives sleep like fucking babies too.

My question is though, why weren't they credited? I just am not seeing the point of not crediting them... :/

Good, I hate video game credit screens and this one was long as hell. I'd rather they didn't credit marketing and the higher executives, but the less time I have to spend not playing the game, the better. Even though these poor neglected game developers work long tedious hours with little job security and benefits, they still make a shit-ton more money than I do (or probably ever will).

If they're really pissed, they could grow some balls and start some unions. I'd buy a game with union logo on it.

Maybe they should unionize.

That, or become contractors, because it seems like they're already being treated like them...

willing to share the work and the blame, but not the success, their conceit knows no bounds

my only issue with unions is that they like to use customers as hostages as much as the industry itself, and expects us to sympathize with them...

Apologies, Found the article extremely interesting with the comparisons to the film industry and typical retiring age. Reminds me of the "Karoshi" phenomenon in Japan where I imagine a lot of these figures are coming from.

I don't get it, what the hell does Rockstar lose by crediting them? Why is this even an issue?
