I bought an Xbox 360 Elite about 2 months ago. Before the update at the first of November, it worked fine, absolutely fine. Now it won't turn on at all. After the update, I turn it on...and my T.V. just gets static. I hit the button on my controller, and it just flashes like it is looking for a console to connect too. My PS3 still works fine.

I have never modded, cheated, or done anything that violates the terms of service at all. Why is this happening?

EDIT: nevermind, problem fixed itself about 1 minute ago. I screwed around with some cables, tweaking and reinserting them. Problem must have been a lose cable somewhere, but I have no idea why the hell that would affect my controller's ability to find my console.

Me too, but I don't have a problem. Did you let the download finish before turning it off or was there an outage?
I just fixed the problem, as mentioned in my edit. I have absolutely no idea why screwing around with the cables in back of my console would affect my controller's ability to "find" my console and stop it from perptually flashing in a circle, especially when both the console and the controller are fully on with a lit green dot, but somehow it apparently did.

Hold down the sync button on your 360 console and turn it on with the sync button held. Do not release the sync button 'til the 360 is fully booted up. This is the method for clearing failed updates.

If this doesn't work, the problem is almost certainly due to the hardware and the timing of the update was just incredibly coincidental. In this case, note down your 360's serial numbers and give MS a call. If your Elite is only 2 months old, it's still under warranty and MS will replace it.

Edit: Nevermind then - I started typing this before I saw your edit, lol
