Racism doesn't make me laugh.
Unless its the funny kind of racism where somebody unintentionally says/does something highly racist resulting in a really awkward moment for everybody involved. In that case its hilarious.
True. But really what's funny there is not the racism itself, but rather the stupidity and/or ignorance of the person being racist.

In other words, my thoughts on racists:
I'm not laughing with you because I find your racism amusing, I'm laughing at you because you're a moron.

No, no they don't.
By no means am I trying to be racist by this comment but for some people this is "sort of" true.
What I mean by this is people often do in fact have a difficult time distinguishing people of different racial backgrounds if they aren't exposed to them that often. So for a person people can look the same/similar because they are unable to pick out the distinguishing characteristics of that race. (I don't have an article or anything to link, and I'm actually too lazy to look it up, but I remember learning about it in Psychology.)

I know someone like that. There's a black lass in our study group and he thinks *every* black lass in Uni is her - gets a little embarrassing when he's yelling and waving for someone no-one knows to come over.

However it's not his fault - he's got Asperger's at the very least, and doesn't pick up on social cues nor is he very good with people/faces. It's not racism, but it's just something that he innately cannot do. But it does show that people can find difficulty in distinguishing between people of different racial backgrounds though no inherent "hatred" or "ignorance".

I was on a hospital lift with a two others. Three black guys were the last to get in behind me. They choose their floor and stood quite happily waiting for the door to close. An old lady and her daughter arrived before the doors closed however. The old lady screwed up her eyes and said, "No, not going in there. Not with a bunch of ******s." One of the black guys whispered to the the other two "give her an evil look". The three of them started giving her evil looks (one pretending to be searching for a weapon). The old lady shrieked and fell backwards then the doors closed. Everybody on the lift just burst out laughing.

That was the only time ive really seen racism. Its not a big issue here like sectarianism is.

Of course they don't!
They have different hairstyles.

[small]Sorry and no offense, but a joke just had to be made out of that.
Plus, that racist idea can be reversed.[/small]

One of my friends is half-Iranian, and we all call him a terrorist, thanks to some idiot chav making fun of him one day. We all thought it was hilarious (including the friend it was aimed at), and it just kind of stuck.

It's easy to forget that stereotypes exist, in part, because there's some truth in them.

People call mexican's wetback's because they're hard workers. Also, they really are. Go anywhere reasonably close to the border and there are droves of them outside a Home Depot looking for work. To be fair though, I'm not sure why this is a bad stereotype.

Black people love watermelon and friend chicken. Right, but who doesn't? African American's, by nature, are a very close knit, community driven group (which is something other people could learn from) but they also tend to be on the poor side in many cities. We can discuss all day why this is but facts are facts. It's a simple truth that food common to that culture is very cheap to buy in bulk so that many people are fed.

That said, I'm as far from racist are possible but you can't deny simple truths. An older man once made a comment along the lines of "fucking negros, always eating chicken and watermelon."

That's all he said and I wasn't sure what he was getting at. Friend chicken and watermelon sounds like a damn fine time. I wish I had some at pretty well any given point.

Perhaps I am a little racist though because if I had to chose between BBQ made by an old white man or an old black man I'd chose the black man. This because it has it's roots in slave cooking. BBQ done right is hard work and those rich white men certainly weren't going to do it.

.i was once called a Nazi Jew bag buy a bully at school. that?s right a nazi and a Jew in the same insult. For the record i was neither so super fail
Well, there's a movie, "The Believer", which concerns a lovely nazi who also happens to be a jew, it's rather odd.

On topic: Every time I hear a racist comment, it tends to take point, it's as if the bigots of the world are competing in digging holes for themselves,

Actually I agree with you.

There is some truth in racism, but it always gotta be distorted. I actually hate it when today's media stick to a sterotype. Like how black youth are often trying to be rappers, or gangsters. Oh, and my favorite: "Thugs."

That is true and not true, while Byouth do some criminal crap...they do it because they won't give they selves a chance. They often believe that they have to prove themselves to others. To gain respact and power, to make sure their parents and siblings never have to suffer again or live in the same room.

It's quite sad really.

True. There's always a reason for these things. Races are different, they just are. Hating certain ones for any number of reasons is bad, but recognizing the differences is ok. Even good. Acceptance starts with accepting differences, not ignoring them.

My ex on occassion accidentally implied racism. We would be talking about sterotypes for and against certain races, and sometimes she would use the term "normal people" when she referred back to white people.

Her dad is massively racist, and I think a couple of phrases have been engrained in her, even though she is completely against racism.

More or less me thoughts, too, though the way I phrased it was a more snarky "There's a kind of racism that ISN'T moronic?"

Apparently I'm racist because I think "ethnic girls look nicer". I don't see that as a wholy negative thing. I may even understand if that comment was deemed to be sexist, but racist?
