Yes, well... No, I can't say that I'm in agreement that Morrowind's technical graphics were particularly good even for the time. Personally, I think the fact that it was so relatively Spartan in the technical department is why the developers could fill it so full of content as they did. It seems they focused less on the actual graphics, like Bethesda often does (and in my opinion should do more, since it'd give them more time left over for features and the all-important context). They favoured art direction, and for big, open world games with ridiculous amounts of content, it's the better choice.

Of course, the picture provided is very lovely, but that speaks more of a dedicated modding community, patching a game up in its more lacking areas. Morrowind was a fantastic game, but like every Elder Scrolls title, it had glaring problems and graphics destined to age poorly. But then again, there will always be one modder able to squeeze just that little bit more out of the engine.

(Furthermore; Praise Saint Jiub!)
Read that last bit as Praise the Sun, Jiub! Now I've got the image of Solaire lifting up his helmet to reveal Jiub's face and saying "Stand up... there you go. You were dreaming. What's your name?"

But yeah, that's a screenshot of a modded game OP. The foliage and water detail alone should be enough to give it away, not to mention the updated textures and shadows.

While it's debatable whether or not the graphics (not aesthetics) of Morrowind were on the lower end of the scale for its generation, it certainly hasn't aged well. Kind of like how going back to Ocarina of Time on the N64 started giving me a headache 15 minutes in, graphical improvement mods for this game whenever available are greatly appreciated.

Solaire was S:t Jiub all along. I knew it!

He does have a certain talent to bump into future Great Champions, doesn't he?

I think the reason why they could fit so much into the game (it's not nearly as big as Arena or Daggerfall, but it's still pretty huge, at least for a 2006 game) is because they gave the art department a lesser budget than whoever the hell came up with the ideas and whoever executed the ideas.

But yeah, that's a modded screen (really pretty though) and the game looks shitty. Still a decent game, though.
