Just to clear something up here. Yes i think oblivion is the better game. Oh noes shock horror! I had a far better experience with oblivion then i ever had with Morrowind. I did not enjoy having to follow complex directions to find something. It ruined the game for me to the point where i gave up on the main plotline and just started to maul everything with a warhammer. Also i thought the entire game of oblivion was improved for the VOICE ACTING ALONE! the entire immersion of Morrowind was totally thrown off by poor characters. And why should i take this sarcastic hate for enjoying one game over the other? MORROWIND IS OLD PEOPLE! it was good at its time, but annoying leveling system aside, oblivion was just a much better game, and one that i genuinely got into. Morrowind was just a little winding down by attacking things for me. Oblivion had me actually interested and contantly wanting to play more.
Really? Huh. I still play Morrowind every now and then, and I still find it much more fun than Oblivion. Age does not make a game better or worse, in my opinion.
And how can the voice acting of Oblivion make it better? Morrowind actualy had more voice actors.
But whatever. If you prefered Oblivion, you prefered Oblivion. You don't have to provide valid reasons if that's just the way you feel.

To the OP: Can you read the files on the disc at all? Is the failure to read only when it does the copy protection check, or all the time?

My pc doesn't even realise morrowinds even there.
After looking at the DVD-RAM specs a bit more, I think you may need to look into picking up a second disc drive. Lucky for you, DVD-ROM drives are dirt cheap nowadays, so you're not too bad off. Alternately, you could try pulling up the files on a different computer, copying them to a USB key, installing them on your PC from the USB key, and using a NoCD crack to run the game. Up to you.

Good luck!

Not missing much. Morrowind was a VERY flawed game. Next to oblivion it gets annoying when you DON'T KNOW WHERE YOU'RE OBJECTIVE IS!
Anger. Morrowind is my favourite game of all time, and you just said Oblivion was better than it. The compass is a stupid device, the directions people gave you always worked if you followed them correctly.
Agreed.

On a side-note, The combat system in Morrowind was pretty broken when you had low levels in the weapon skill. If they had the combat system and graphics of oblivion in Morrowind, it would have been even better.

What the hell happened to mark and recall spells in oblivion?

Fingers crossed for TES 5.
Fast Travel happened.
Ugh, I dislike fast travel intensely. Set destinations in ships and silt striders was a much better idea, which didn't dumb down the game. Mark and Recall should be brought back, as well as divine and almisivi intervention.

I know that levitation was left out of Oblivion because of the towns being a different cell to the countryside, but I'd love levitation back.

1. The two games are different games. You can have both.
2. The fun factor of the games depend on the person.
3. Personally, I prefer Morrowind. I just like it more. Nothing else to say about that.
4. Did the OP get their answer?
