You can't, it just does it occasionally. You just have to raise your skill and hope for the best.

Um, I don't remember being able to do a power attack. Did you by any chance play Oblivion before Morrowind?

No and by power attack I mean a charge attack (you sort of raise your shield when you do it)
Edit: why would you think I played Oblivion first?

Because there are power attacks in Oblivion

EDIT: And I don't believe there are power attacks in Morrowind. The shield thing is most likely just for the sake of animation

When you keep your finger on the attack button when using a melee weapon. It produces an attack that's slower and more powerful.

Step 1: Get Azura's Star.
Step 2: Kill Vivec, capture soul in Azura's Star.
Step 3: Create a daedric Hiroshima sword, which does as much damage as you can pack in over, oh, a 50 ft radius.

You no longer need to block.

Or talk to people.

Why Vivec? Any grand level will do. But he is right, If noone is alive, noone is alive to hurt you.

IIRC, you get much, much more soul power for mega charachters like vivec, than you do for, say, golden saints. I believe a typical grand soul gave 400 or 800 (insert soul currency unit here) and vivec was 1500 or 2000. THeres a couple other super charachters out there, but none as l33t as vivec. But Also, all this won't fit any anything but azura's star.

AND i should have specified AOE fire damage in that post.

Yeah, Morrowind is extremely different from Oblivion. Everything, and I mean freaking EVERYTHING is hidden dice rolls. Blocking was random, critical hits were random, hell, even hitting in the first place was random. I loved the game, but when I spent a full minute swinging at a rat before I hit it I kind of gave up on it.

I don't think i swung a sword much until very, very late in the game. when i made my hiroshima sword. Spell failed spell failed was really annoying, but I got over it with time.

Make a 100% chameleon suit, though! thats fun. until you equip your sword and focus on killing everyone in the game.

I did, that breaks the game though. By which I mean, it stops being really fun.

I did the 100% Chameleon thing in Oblivion. It was good for a laugh but made combat pretty boring.
