Yes, I cheated a little with the title there.

Anyway, while giving the devs of The Elderscrolls Online a bit more time to get there shit together and see what they can/will fix, I've decided to pick up morrowind once again.

I use to have a nice little collection of mods but due to hardware upgrades and whatnot, I lost them all.
So, instead of browsing through all the nude mods on the Nexus, I'm turning to you guys.

What do you think are some of the better/essential/hilarious or otherwise note-worthy mods.

A couple of guidelines:
*Graphic mods are always welcome! (and by that I mean graphical upgrades, of course)
*Please no game breaking mods that suck all the challenge out of the game.
*Combat revamp mods are fine, but I can live with the vanilla system.
*New houses are awesome, but I prefer if they too came with a quest or at least some form of hurdle.
*Preferably keep most mods immersive. I mean, I'd like it to fit the setting.

Oh, almost forgot, I'll be playing with Steam's version, with both expansion packs.

So, please Escapist, make me love this game again!!

Morrowind Graphics and Sounds Overhaul: an incredibly easy to install and customize graphics mod. You really don't need to get another graphics mod besides it, since you can disable or replace all the things you don't like about it individually.

Madd Leveler: a mod that automatically levels your attributes as you increase their corresponding skills (rather than having to choose which attributes to increase when you level up). This means you won't have to grind skills you never really use to keep your attributes up to snuff.

Tamriel Rebuilt: a mod project to add mainland Morrowind to the game world. While it's only about a third done (after about ten years of development), the added land mass so far is as big if not slightly bigger than Vvardenfell, and it's no less detailed and varied (maybe even more so).

On the last Morrowind character I made, the only gameplay mod I used was Delayed Dark Brotherhood Attack. It's a really small mod that makes it so the Dark Brotherhood assassins from Tribunal won't start attacking you until I think level six. This dramatically improves the experience of the first few levels of the game.

I also have to second Tamriel Rebuilt. It is excellent, and worth playing.

It's been years since I last played or modded it, but a couple I never got around to trying were the realtime Silt Strider and boat travel. The pathfinding looked a bit dicey, at times, and not what you could really call 'smooth'... But I love the idea, and if I ever fire it up again I'll be trying them.

For graphics, I highly recommend the Better Bodies mod.

Also Real Signs mod, so you can actually read the markers along the road instead of having to mouse over them.

It has been so long since I loaded up the game that I can't remember the mods I have installed. There are some really good graphical update mods out there. I also remember an 'Arena/Gladiator Mod' where you could fight in Gladiator matches in Vivec's arena and become champion.

For content, please let me suggest Julan, who helps flesh out the culture of the Ashlanders quite entertainingly.

Both of these mods are included in the Morrowind Graphics and Sounds Overhaul.

Keep an eye on OpenMW. They are in the process of rebuilding the game from the ground up.

They are getting really close to done. Most of the things you see in their videos are features from vanilla Morrowind, but that's the whole point. After it's finished, graphics mods and other new features will seamlessly be added into the new engine.
