Morrowind: Yes/No? (compared to Oblivion)

Worth it, yes, more than. That said, it's a game that requires a lot of patience, particularly as you're playing it after Oblivion. Certain gameplay systems are worse (combat being the obvious example) and the game is very slow to ramp up at the start. But once you get going, there's actually a lot more to it than Oblivion, I reckon you'll love spells like Jump, Levitate, Mark/Recall and all of that as well as the many other wonders of Morrowind. The story's fantastic, heck, the books in the game are well worth reading on their own.

All in all, yeah, get it. Just be patient with it when you get into the game, it'll take a while to adjust.

Morrowind is good but the combat sucks and the game can be easily broken (i mean through glitches). However it offers much more variety than Oblivion in terms of environments and inventory. Honestly I prefer Oblivion over Morrowind, It might be because I played it first but its much more user friendly.

It's been a while since i fired up Morrowind, is there a mod that puts the combat exactly like Oblivion ?, i think it's pretty spot-on, except for archery maybe

As annoying as losing some of the mechanics going from oblivion to morrowind can be, I would def say its worth it. get a couple mods to fix anything you really cant stand (cliff racers, missing, graphics, or for me personally magic regain). No fast travel, but while it can be annoying it definitely helps with immersion (and you could always cheat and edit your speed).

Anyhow, despite the flawed mechanics, the lack of a good tutorial and pretty much everything getting updated in oblivion, morrowind was and is still FAR more immersive and enjoyable to me.

Seriously though, I would suggest giving it a brief run-through to find things u dont like, then mod them out.

I hate the combat system in Morrowind. I hate it with a passion. It was so bad it made me stop playing. I've never finished it, because I just couldn't stand the system.

The only way Oblivion improved on Morrowind was the combat (and graphics, but you don't care about that); Morrowind did everything else better. And that was STILL enough for me to declare Oblivion my preferred Elder Scrolls game. That's how bad the combat is.

Having said that, I have to admit that Morrowind is the superior game, and well worth the money.

I've been playing Morrowind on and off for over five years. Even now I still get the need to put the disc in and play it just because it was such a good game. It is especially worth it with Bloodmoon and Tribunal. I definately recommend it.

I prefered Morrowind: more opportunity for problem solving without using combat. made it a more interesting main quest

Yeah, I liked Morrowind a lot more. The combat will take some getting used to as stated above. Compared to Oblivion it is a lot more based in pen'n'paper RPG then action video-games. It also has a much larger arsenal of diverse kind of weapons you can wield.

I prefer Morrowind, but I am getting tired of the prisoner turned hero premise in them all. Plus the glitches in Morrowind made the game unpredictably funny. I still play it on my PC and XBOX to this day, but no matter which Elder Scrolls it is my friends an me still get a kick out of the Redguards. I'm black so it's the only character I ever pick, but love that the grew up on a plantation plane and their special ability makes them run faster and slightly stronger.

Hell to the yes. Morrowind was way more interesting than oblivion. It felt more involving and didn't have that stupid level-scaling system.

Well it did, just not on as large a scale though. It was mostly to do with random encounters.

Technologically, Oblivion is far more impressive. But Morrowind has a lot more depth to it.
Morrowind is still one of my favorite games ever.
Also, Morrowind has a metric crap-ton of awesome mods made for it, so you will never run out of things to do.

I haven't looked into Morrowind mods much really

The combat mod that I found bumped up the accuracy a bit, with 100% accuracy being most similar to Oblivion; blocks and dodges but no misses.

But the combat doesn't have to be exactly like Oblivion really, any improvement on it is enough to outshine Oblivion in my opinion.
