...doesn't work on my 360.

Yeah, I know that's one of the 360's things, you've got about a 50-50 shot of an original Xbox game to work on it (In fact, I think I'm 3 for 6 with original Xbox games on the 360...) but I checked online first, and this was on the list of games that should work. Am I just missing an update without LIVE or something, or is it just that the 360 won't play this particular game?

I dont like playing Morrowind on my 360 anyways. If you have an xbox, it will actually seem to work better on it than a 360. Plus you can see where you save. On the 360 your saves are pure blur.

Yeah, I totally don't have an original Xbox. If I did, I wouldn't have this problem.
So, did you get Morrowind working on your 360?

May you could just buy a 2nd hand original x-box? I'm sure they would be very cheap at the moment

I never bothered with the console Morrowind.

Tried it once on the xbox, and after 5 minutes in the menu system I wanted to snap the disk in half.

Seriously, the menu system on the console is horrid.

Anyway, pointless ranting aside, yeah, I don't know if the normal Morrowind works, or if the GOTY version works. They're both different disks, so the original could have been made compatible, while the GOTY content wasn't.

Just speculation though. And I really wish MS didn't half-ass the backwards compatibility thing.

They can get Barbie's freaking horse adventure backwards compatible, but not Timesplitters, or Beyond Good and Evil, or Oddworld Stranger's Wrath? Screw you MS...

Sorry for all the ranting, I just get very pissed off on the 360 backwards compatibility matter...

GOTY, I considered that would be the problem, but I dismissed it because that seems retarded. After all, Fable: The Lost chapters worked just as well as Fable did.
Apparently, it was just retarded.

I saw it at Half-Price Books and picked it up for $10, so I suppose not much wasted.

wasn't morrowind a PC game?
It was ported to the Xbox a month after it's release.

Your best bet is probably to find a cheap, original Xbox, OP.

Yeah, as I said it may be the new content from the GOTY edition thats not working.
The 360 is hit and miss, usually miss, when it comes to backwards compatible games.

My only suggestions would be to get an origional xbox or just get it for the PC.

couldn't he just get the PC version then? It'd be cheaper than an XBOX and any ol' box'll run that game.
That's... actually a pretty good point.
Steam has it for only $20.

Elder Scrolls games are meant for the PC. If your computer was made within the last few years it will be able to run it without a problem. That and you can get graphics upgrades that make the game barely seem outdated.

One question: How moddable is Morrowind on the PC? You're actually making me want to buy it myself. :p

Extremely. The game comes with a construction set where you can pretty much edit anything you want in the game fairly easily and there are quite literally thousands of mods that you can download and easily install.

Morrowind has a huge modding community. Even now, there are new mods coming out for it everyday. You will not be disappointed. You will be much better off because of it.

Edit: The Steam version kind of restricts your ability to mod the game, So go another route if possible. (Though, I went the "Illegitimate" route. But I did pay for the game!) Payed for it twice actually, though I losts the disks from when I bought the retail version sooooooo long ago.

This. The nude mod is particularly intriguing.
