He's still significantly stronger than the player and tougher to boot. He still has the stun cancel that Shao Kahn has (although to a lesser extent). And he's still a monument to failure at design.omega 616 said:If you can beat them just fine why are you calling him a prick ...
To be fair, I couldn't abide by his ways, so I always used Scorpion or Subzero, whose moves could INTERRUPT HIM. Especially freezing. I always found it good that him and Kintaro were still freezable.rokkolpo said:This.FalloutJack said:*Raises hand*

Shao Kahn has ALWAYS been cheap from DAY ONE when he first appeared in Mortal Kombat II! This complaint is nothing new!
I hate him.
And as a kid I would hit reset on my ps1 when I reached him.

Being at this for a while, I try the usual combinations almost immediately. Many games, especially MK games, hold true to their basics. So, I'll freeze, fireball, teleport, spear, hat throw, acid spit, and whatever else before ever seeing a manual.rokkolpo said:I never managed any of the special technique's xDFalloutJack said:To be fair, I couldn't abide by his ways, so I always used Scorpion or Subzero, whose moves could INTERRUPT HIM. Never.
There was no tutorial and no FAQ as I had no internet. );
I jumped in glee whenever I button bashed me a fireball.
This is so very, very true. I fucking hated him and Kintaro in Mortal Kombat II. If anything, they're easier in Mortal Kombat 9. Still very frustrating to fight though. The best strategy I've come up with so far is to teleport, execute short combo, teleport, short combo, repeat until he's dead.FalloutJack said:*Raises hand*

It's actually a mechanic called "super armor". It basically means their attack can go through other attacks, but they still receive the damage from your attack. A lot of characters have some super armor on their X-Ray attack. The problem is... Shao Kahn throws that goddamn stun hammer way too often, and has super armor on EVERYTHING. He isn't hard to beat (stand at full screen and mash projectiles as fast as you can), but you can't actually fight him. You just have to lame him out.sheah1 said:they also decided to give the bastard limited invincibility on most of his moves.
ill share my strategy to beat him teleport, uppercut repeat 50 times x-ray when avialibleameemo said:I fought him in the arcade ladder normal mode, won with johnny cage. After that i tried with Noob, got soo pissed i stopped playing on normal altogether, i just play on easy or beginner now. I really wanna punch the designers in the bollocks! I've been trying to beat him with raiden in story mode for a while now, no luck with that. I really, really hate the bastard.
gotta agree, he has always been a royal pain in the ass, use raiden or scorpion, and spam with dive and teleporting.FalloutJack said:*Raises hand*

Bicycle kick the one true solution to this problemBoogieManFL said:I'm not that far in the story but Shao Kahn has always been a cheap SoB. He's never been fun to fight as a last boss because he's overpowered. Enemies that are hard because they ignore mechanics that are central to the game everywhere else (knockbacks, obeying blocks etc) and hit you for a ton of extra damage are just badly designed.
I had fun, even though it was mildly frustrating, fighting Shang Tsung. His AI seemed a bit more aggressive than the others and he was a good solid opponent without being all overpowered and poorly designed.
Goro was just stupid. If I got close he'd decimate me but he almost never blocked so I could keep doing the same move over and over so long as it started farther away. And his little I STOMP ON GROUND AND HURT YOU move is freaking dumb. Any time most players feel they need to resort to cheesy AI exploits and boring play to overcome a boss, you've failed miserably as a designer.
Bottom line, there are better more intelligent ways to make an end boss more challenging. Because being a cheap overpowered SoB isn't challenging, it's just lame and annoying.
i hated having to fight both of them with sub zero i suck with subzeroLord Beautiful said:Thank you, Captain Condescending. I can beat Goro just fine. And Kintaro is far easier to beat than Goro.omega 616 said:Goro is so easy! Kintaro is a little harder than goro, with his fireballs and flame thrower but even he is easy.Lord Beautiful said:I hate him with a fiery passion. He usurped Seth's position as Supreme Emperor Bullshit Magician. I want to beat his designers in the balls with a sledgehammer for their insolence. If you have to overpower a character that much to create difficulty, you fail as a designer. Period.
That said, I can rape the shit out of him as Ermac when I'm driven to the level of lunacy it takes to want to fight him.
Oh, and Goro can suck a fat mule dong as well. He's nowhere near the bullshit magician that Shao Kahn is, but he's still a prick.
making him hard, and making him cheap are 2 different things, the AI in MK has ALWAYS been about bullshit tactics,(false difficulty as i call it) and not a legitimate challenge with AI designed right, just to show the MK people still half ass their jobsgof22 said:Shao Kahn is difficult but if you keep your distance and keep firing projectiles at him he will be defeated quickly. Considering how difficult Azazel is in Tekken 6. I consider the fights with Shao Kahn to be easy.
Plus, Shao Kahn is one of the main antagonists in the Mortal Kombat universe. He has to be difficult to beat for him to live up to his legacy.
If you choose Tag Ladder in the fight options it is much easier to defeat Shao Kahn because even if he defeats one fighter you still have another fighter to defeat him.Lord Beautiful said:For the past half hour, I've been trying to beat this asshole with Stryker. I've not won a single round. I'm reminded of how much I want to beat the shit out of his designers.
