Mortal Kombat: Komplete Edition Komes To PC In July

Warner Bros. have confirmed via press release that the R-rated fighter will be released on Steam on July 3.

Earlier in the week, Steam database dataminers discovered data pointing to a July 3 release of the PC edition of Warner Brothers' goretastic fighter Mortal Kombat: Complete Edition. The database again proves its infalability, as Warner Bros. have just announced via press release that this date is indeed correct, and the game will see release on the Steam platform on July 3.

If you'd rather have a shiny new collectable boxed copy, i'm afraid you'll have to wait a little bit longer, as the retail version of the game won't arrive until August 2. It isn't clear whether or not the retail version will require registration on Steam to play (although it seems likely).

The PC port is being handled by High Voltage Software. If you're not fond of playing fighting games on a keyboard (because honestly, who is?) the game will support any kind of controller you can plug into your PC, including Xbox 360 controllers and the official Mortal Kombat Tournament Edition fight-stick.

The "Komplete" edition of the game will come with all of its previously released DLC, as well as fifteen classic Mortal Kombat skins and three classic Mortal Kombat fatalaties. The game will, thankfully, be one of the first games to receive the new R18+ rating for videogames [http://www.classification.gov.au/Pages/View.aspx?sid=I6M4FBV0PvVsqm2d4Xcv8g%253d%253d&ncdctx=l%252fbsRmXqQH8wppk%2bg%2bAvW3mFbfUVW1uGpL641gJhQSksFogx9gUlu%252fgZ71EceAlA] in Australia. If there is any game series that makes the R18 rating justified, it's Mortal Kombat.

The edition was previously released on consoles back in February of 2012, which means we've had to wait over a year for a PC release. Is there even a market for this game anymore? I have a few friends in the fighting game community and Mortal Kombat doesn't even register on the radar these days, so I'm not quite sure what Warner Bros. are expecting with a PC release.

I really should buy this to support WB because I've been wanting more fighting games on the PC. The problem is what I really want is Tekken, DOA and Virtua Fighter on the pc. Of course, publishers don't release digital sales figures so I may just write Namco et al and tell them I bought this.

I am curious now as to whether or not the PC version will have Kratos or if he is still a PS3 exclusive. I think it would be cool to play as Kratos in Mortal Kombat.

He stays PS3-exclusive as he is property of Sony and while it seems more likely that he comes on PC, it is still very doubtful.

That's true. I suppose a way for Sony to make easy money would be to add him as a paid DLC character for the PC. I doubt that would happen though.

I played Mortal Kombat 1,2 and 3 for countless hours through 90's on PC before this console disaster started :p
I would play the crap of MK3 if I could run it on today PC.
So finally after so long I can play MK again ? shut up and take my money! :)

Btw: still waiting for Tekken and Soul Blade on PC. I could play only the old ones with playstation emulator.

@StevenBogos: Surely you mean if we want to purchase a "Kollektable Boxed Kopy" we'll have to wait a bit longer?

Good decision on the controllers; I have no problem with playing on a keyboard, but getting to dust of my MK fight-stick has pretty much guaranteed I'll be buying a copy

im just wondering when it will show on steam. so far it only shows the first original 3 titles.

but yes, tekken would be awesome too. was always wondering why they never released these titles. guess sony wants to keep it for them self.

I'll be buying this. PC lacks good fighters (save for Overgrowth), so hopefully a lot of purchases will convince devs to put more fighters on Steam.

I think you're talking about Mortal Kombat's Kollektable Boksed Kopy for the PK.

From now on, whenever I write in any MK-related thread, I'm going to replake every C with a K. Zat, ma freendz, ees a promeeze.

I can only wait for the Noob players (pun intended) who have all the projectiles mapped to single keys for easy spam.
