What AI has annoyed you the most in a game?
I would say the NPCs in Oblivion, especially when you have to work with them on quests. They flat out murder any chance you have at being stealthy.

It's not Artificial Intelligence, it's Artificial Stupidity, right?

agreed. every time i try to fight "along side" them, they end up moving in front of me while i swing my sword, i inadvertently hit them which either a) kills them, b) they considerit assault and my infamy goes up, or c) hurts them and they in turn attack me.

i have yet to come across a RTS where ALL of my units follow my command and GO WHERE I FUCKING TELL THEM TO.

Reload Dr. Freemon!
I've fought mudcrabs fiercer than you!
And of course in the Early Age of Empires games, one hit of splash damage causes your allies to automatically and irreversably turn to an enemy.

Don't get me started.

The AI in Resident Evil 5 loves nothing more than to not follow, not protect and get their asses kicked all at the same time.

Also in L4D2, the AI is quite happy to stand next to you picking their noses while a Hunter rips your nuts off and eats them. The second the fucking thing kills me due to their stupidity THEN the kill the fucking thing.

I still prefer L4D1's AI.

Agreed. one time i was playing Endwar, and one vehicle in my transport unit got caught on a roadblock, and the whole damn unit would not move. took up two slots (i had engineers in the transports, and they wouldnt move either). god damn Sleigh Ride

As much as I enjoy a game of Oblivion or Fallout occationally, those games have horrible AI

They run in front of me when I'm attacking and get's pissed for it
and with fallout 3, if you piss off a faction once, they never forget it! i trespassed in fort independence one time (sort of a mistake) and now every time i find outcasts they try and kill me. its so annoying because i kind of like the outcasts, and i have to lose karma

That's happened to me a couple times with pretty much all the special infected. I usually punish them (if I'm still alive) by damaging them (or killing them, if I'm really pissed) or just returning the favor and hesitating whenever they get attacked. Idiots...

EASILY L4D2.

The AI got near infinetly worse, and I don't know HOW they managed that.

Well i have very bad luck with AI in L4D. Once a hunter was killing me and my AI just stood there and watched. They also tend to steal kills, and mess up my attempts at getting achievements

Oh look the couch next to the fireplace went on fire.
Oooh the floor burns too, let's go stand in that corner with no way out and burn to death like good crappy AI morons.

Yes the Sims are brilliant :)

I will say this about the NPCs in Oblivion: they sure know how to go off on a tangent
Edit: they also dont seem to want to actually get into a conversation with each other. they're always trying to get out of it really quickly
