I was just thinking about this whilst I was playing Ninja Gaiden Black. Two words: Ghost. Fish.

The moment the last boss decides ok I'm bored with this and pulls out his mega ultra ***** you gonna die move and automatically ramps it up from beating a baby to death easy to trying to kill a martial arts master with your hands behind your back.

Psychonauts. The Meat Circus. Figuring out that I actually had to use Telekenesis, arguably the worst power in the game.

ur, tru, u and 2 are actual words you know.

As for me, the race level in Conker. I sold the game and rebought it a few months later becasue of that level! It's so bad because all the good levels are after it: gladiator fight, matrix fight, alien, zombies, war level.

As long as you had the Bladed nunchucks upgraded it wasn't terribly hard but Definately not easy though. On second thought beating the game on hard made me want to smash my head against several window panes.

Every time I die/do something stupid/the game crashes and I realise I haven't saved for the last 4 hours...

More specifically, the one and only time I played Splinter Cell, being caught in a shadow in an alleyway between two immobile guards. If I shot one, the other would hear it and kill me. If I stepped out, they would immediately spot me and kill me. I gave up after repeating those for about 20 minutes.

Playing Elite Beat Agents, failing the song on the very last spin marker. Next try, I got an A rating for the song, though :p

The Elite Beat Divas difficulty, however, is pretty much impossible for me o.o

Then, the dark spike pit ... THING in Mario Brothers: Partners in Time. You basically need to lead those retard babies over some small platforms in the dark, and if you even make half a millimeter of a misstep, they fall into the damn pit and you get to start all over. I quit playing it because it was so ridiculously annoying.

Then there's also Theme Hospital. Imagine you've only just bought a new patch of land, put it full with facilities, and within 2 minutes, an earthquake breaks half of the equipment there. Really, BREAKING. As in, the space being used becoming unavailable and no way to break it down (a sort of punishment for not keeping your machinery healthy, even though most of them have been used like, only 2 or 3 times.

Oh, and reaching the 10th tier in Colin McRae DiRT. Then closing the game, opening it again the day after, to see that the savegame went corrupt and you had to start over. I did not start over.

And that just reminded me of some more savegame perils... Gears of War + that Microsoft internet stuff wrecking your savegames each time you boot up the game, ARGH. Luckily you can start any level at any time if you mess with the game folders a bit, but still...

I'm suprised no-one has mentioned COD4's 'Veteran' Difficulty. Damn, playing through that thing is hard.

Just rename the level you were at to the name of the first, then start a new game and pick the first level. You can just continue from then on. You can't revisit the earlier levels again unless you do it the way it's supposed to be played, though. Had to do the map switch thing 3 times by the time I finished the game -.-

1. Respawning in front of an enemy (a really bad problem in CoD4)

2. Playing for 3 hours without saving, your going heaps good then the computer freezes (AAAHHHHH!)

3. Games were you dont get any health for a long period then when you think it's over you find a boss to kill.

4. Continually not pressing the potion button quick enough when fighting Diablo.

5. Running out of potions and town portals when fighting Diablo.

The spider boss thing in Metroid Fusion.

Not only because when it picked you up and slammed you into the ground for tons of damage it was really difficult to avoid having it pick you up again straight away afterwards, seeing as you can't move for a short time after the attack, but also because the lsat save point was MILES away from the fight itself.

Nightmare was annoying in that game, too, but only because he was tough as nails to beat.
