There's probably more. But I despise Steam. I bought BlOps on the PS3 just so I didn't have to deal with steam even though the game costs more on PS3 and I don't like shooters on consoles....
When codblops first came out, the psn for known was having a tough time keeping people in groups which really erks me as psn doesn't have party chat (imo xbl's saving grace). With group play being so difficult (I think it's much better now on the psn) I've decided to strictly play fps's on PC as I know the steam communities for most fps's that I want to play are strong.

I was curious about your psn codblops experiences ... had any problems lately? I might jump on this wknd again for the first time in weeks.

That you need a credit card to buy games. If they had pre-paid cards I would definitely use steam a lot more.

You can use any kind of bank card.

Surely you must atleast have a current account?
Not every country supports VISA Debit cards. Canada JUST started supporting them November 2010.

Captcha: tinutic culture
wtf does that mean? XD

Edit:

On topic, my biggest beef is something that has never happened to me, but I've been wary about it since I heard of it. That Steam will lock your account and you will be unable to play any games you purchased on Steam if something happens and your bank does a 'charge back'. To get your account back you have to use the same payment method and account that was used (aka exact same credit card, exact same paypal account, not just the payment method). So I suggest staying away from any prepaid non-reloadable credit cards, as any mixup or problem with the card will cause you to lose your whole account. They do not negotiate with you, and are extremely unhelpful in regards to this. AKA if this happens to you, and you used a prepaid non-reloadable credit card, you are screwed, say goodbye to your Steam Account.

I use Paypal. Just get yourself a bank account.
As for me... The only issue I have, is I do think if Steam bans your account, they should either continue giving access to your games, or refund you. But I'm not planning on breaking their terms anyway, so it's not really an issue...
Actually, it does piss me off how buggy some Steam games can be. Take Mount & Blade: Warband for example. I can't play that in offline mode, it crashes in a couple of minutes. My friend has the same problem.
But I think there is much more in it's favour than there is (valid) criticism of it.

you have to update a game before oyu can play it, I can;t play my retail version of left4 dead because I just dont have 1.9gb of data to spare
Oh yeah. This is actually a huge problem for me right now. It wasn't back at my old home, we had the bandwidth to spare. But now I'm living in Perth, haven't organised an internet plan, I can't play Magicka or TF2. The update system is another stupid thing, is there an option to turn off auto updates without right clicking on every single game? Cause I can't find one. And the fact I can't play a game if it's out of date, is very annoying. Oh, and that when i launch a game, I have to minimise it and resume any downloads Steam was doing.
The whole thing needs a re-haul.
hey Perth! me too!...well Im not there right now but yeah...

what do you mean you can't play a game if its out of date? I mean my example with L4d is a good one, because Buy the time I got around to actually playing it it had a ton of updates it needed so therefore 1.9gb worth of data, same for TF2 I don't know if ill ever be able to play it

Ummmm. I'm not sure. This is embarrassing lol. I tried once, and the game just kept crashing, so I assumed it was Steam hating on me. Maybe it was just my laptop... Fuck. Well ok, I totally can play Magicka right now.

This. The only issue I have with Steam is the hilarious amount of flack I take for supporting it.

The people and the group announcements.

I recently left all my groups, deleted most of the people on my friends list and have been enjoying peace :D

After playing any game for over 10 minutes my computer makes a horribly loud buzzing sound that doesn't stop until I exit the game completely.

I don't know if it's because of steam or my computer.

I haven't had any problems with BlOps but I'm just over it. It's no different and the different things are kind of useless. I've had the odd server disconnection but that could be because of me.

Offline mode requires an internet connection.

If I may, as crass as it can be, I shall award myself a /thread.

Good day. *tips hat*

The fact it sometimes tells you your game is currently unavailable when you try to play it annoys me. Other than that I like Steam.

Prices for new games are the same as the price for a physical copy in the store, and in some cases even higher. Mind you, I am from the Netherlands, so I got screwed over with the dollar/euro conversion. So with the exception of the games that are on sale or the ones that are not available in regular stores, there is no reason for me to use Steam.

In Europe:
1.) 1$=1? so we pay more for the same game which is just not fair. I bypass this buy purchasing the key online and then entering it into Steam but I can miss some great (or not so great in which case I don't care) DLC preorders.

2.) They tend to move the release dates. So I wait for a game that's published on the 19th of February and they move it the same day that it was supposed to be released usually for another week. I don't mind playing the game later but I hate waiting for the game and then postponing it just because I live on another continent or whatever.

EDIT: I forgot to add that those are the only problems I have and they have to do with the marketing department or whoever sets the prices. Kick those people in the arse and I'm a happy customer. I like Steam even with those minor problems/annoyances.
