Well I have seen plenty of the crazy things New York City is famous for, but I don't think cosplaying was among it. More often, craziness.

^Proves both my points^

Fair enough, though for the sake of completeness I wasn't referring to anime only (Nor did it cross my mind to call you a perv ... it's hardly fair to call all anime one step away from cheap porn)

Cosplay is awesome provided that the cosplayer puts effort into it, and tries to play a character they look like.

There are all sorts of awesome cosplayers out there. It's just a pity that they're looked down upon for such a neat hobby.

Im up in manchester (like...200miles form cardiff) and we dont get too many cosplay'ers (or at least that ive seen) - We get the odd Flash Mob (2006 pillow fight - 1000ish people, good times) but no animes or furries.

But i agree, Theres not enough fit cosplayers.

Not really Cosplay but Halloween (and other random nights) is pretty good in Reading. I've Gone dressed, as ninja, warrior, pimp, robot madhatter and a crazy 88 among others. It's also fun having a drink next to a guy dressed as a Smurff. Also in the line to get into a club a guy near the front dressed up as a sparten (300 style) shouted back to the crowd "Spartans! What is your proffesion?" and you just heard a corus of "HAAAAAAAWOOOOOOL"

I'm fine with cosplay, but I will never stop being traumatized by Inu-Yasha in calculus...

I remember on the last Halloween I ran around dressed as the red scout from Team Fortress 2, screaming and waving a bat about. I recall that everyone on the subway was staring at me like I was a nutter, and that one guy who let me go through a turnstile before him, I turn to him and say in my best Brooklyn accent "Yo, thanks a lot.". Guy stairs at me and runs off.

Running through the streets and jumping in front of people while screaming and waving a bat around was hella fun and I hope to do it next year, but with more people going at it Team Fortress 2 style. (pics of me as red scout below, in spoiler box due to size.)

Now i would criticise her for coming in like that but it was during winter were my winter clothes are a black fedora and a RAF greatcoat soo i dont get an opinion.
Nice! that's my winter-wear as well (although I wear a black trench-coat). Yeah, I have the same problem with not being able to say anything about the weirdos at my college. Some of the guys like to LARP on campus, and it would be rather odd for a guy with a fedora and a pipe calling them weird.

But, back on topic. I live in Georgia (US, not eastern Europe), so the amount of cos-playing going on in my town is very, very small. They mostly limit it to the Con my college throws annually.
