So I was reading the "most-improved sequels" thread, and I got to thinking, what about the flip side? What about those sequels that are massive downgrades from their predecessors - the gameplay is worse, the controls are stiffer, the storyline is stupider, and so on.
An example for me would be Megaman 7. Set aside the fact that Dr. Wily as the end boss was getting old by the fourth game - the beautiful high-contrast visuals of the NES games was replaced by a bland mess of pastel blah. The new art style made the screen seem kind of constrained and made playing the game feel like having a boxing match in a broom closet, and the controls felt wonky and un-Megaman-like. Then 8 added in crappy voice acting and Megaman & Bass made all these other problems even worse.
