Having been Ninja'ed on the Hungarian Suicide Song (I would have posted Billie Holiday's Gloomy Sunday, it's the same song) and also on Frankie Teardrop (Probably more depressing than the Hungarian Suicide Song) I guess I'll go with Vesti la giubba from Pagliacci.

Whiskey Lullaby. Girl breaks up with guy. Guy gets depressed. Guy gets drunk, smashes a bottle over his head, and then shoots himself in the head. Girl gets depressed from guy's death. Girl gets drunk, smashes a bottle over her head, then shoots herself, too. They get buried under the same oak tree. The end.

Really.

Televators by the Mars Volta
Depressing, sad, yet beautifully written and composed
Thank you Cedric Bixler Zavala

PS: i can mention tons more from anime soundtracks, but then one would have to watch the anime to really understand the meaning. here's one 'Youkoso! Hitori Bocchi'

Snuff by Slipknot is pretty sad

Also Fiction by Avenged Sevenfold simply because the drummer wrote it just before he died and some of the lyrics are kinda sad.

YES! I don't think anyone posted my top 2.

I have listened to this one repeatedly for days. At first I was just 'oh, its a little creepy,' but the more I listen to it, I think I've come up with the actual meaning. (edit: also, as a side note, I suggest watching it without staring at the lyrics. dumb of me posting the video with the lyrics, but its just my own personal recommendation.)

and

Probably not as depressing as what most of you have already posted, but I personally think it is a nice song. Not my favorite amv attatched (because I think there was one somewhere I just liked a bit more), but its just the one I've been using as of late.

The Gorillaz - El Manana

Watching the video makes it even worse...

And as runner ups:
Slipknot - Danger/Keep Away
Marilyn Manson - The Last Day On Earth
And also... This:

No lyrics or anything, but it just... I don't know, it makes me sad, kind of melancholic.

I never really saw the attraction in that version of Mad World tbh. I generally don't like covers of stuff like this, just because I think it looses something to just be singing someone elses sentiments. Needs to be original to make the cut for me.

The johnny cash version of hurt is kinda different I guess, since he has a whole catalog of sad stuff.
So, just because it's a cover of the original means that it can't hold significance or emotional value? I still think it's pretty sad, even if the video doesn't make much sense. Jules' voice makes it sound pretty depressing.

I wasn't even aware it was a cover. I thought that was the original.
It is better than the original and you ninja'd me. Makes me think of Donnie Darko when I listen to it which was not a happy movie.
