Most Difficult Boss Fights

Not hard where they are just stupid hard, but difficult, where it feels fair and you need real skill to beat.

To me, the best example is Shadow of the Colossus

I don't really have a game that had a lot of hard bosses in general, but the hardet boss I've beaten was probably Abyssion from tales of Symphonia. The battle alone took me like 45 minutes.

I have a good example of the opposite. I just went and finished Bioshock in preparation for potentially getting the 2nd for my birthday on Saturday. Absolute piece of piss. I've lost more health from gun turrets.

Anyways, the hardest boss I can remember is the finale to Act Raiser for SNES. Or rather, the fact that you have to fight every single boss again in quick succession with no breaks. I remember being able to get up to about boss 3 out of like... 10? Mental.

I reckon the fights against Sephiroth in Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II are pretty challenging, as are the fights against Xemnas in Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix and the Data Organization and the Lingering Sentiment in Kingdom Hearts II: FInal Mix.

Oh, and Red out of Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver. He's harder than his original version, that's for sure, and he was pretty difficult back then.

Most of the bosses in Ninja Gaiden 2 on its harder difficulties.

I've yet to beat Dagra Dai on mentor difficulty.

I feel that all the Bayonetta bosses make you think about what you're doing. Challenging, but enjoyable.

To me, the final boss from Heavenly Sword was ridiculous. Maybe because we were pad-passing and I hadn't played for an hour and had forgotten the combos or just because I hate dodging, but I still haven't beat it. ^^;

FFXII's Yiazmat wasn't particularly difficult, but just plain long. Took me 2 hours to beat...
