Soul Eater.

Forever will the ending of that anime stain my mind as the most glorious case of blueballs ever. Seriously, the anime spends 49 episodes trying to establish that the main baddie is the most evil, corrupt and heinous thing ever to walk the face of the planet, and that he must be stopped at all costs...

The second to last ep. has most of the heroes getting trashed DBZ style (including the main goodie's son...who's supposed to be stupidly powerful) until inevitably one (the saddest, most inadequate main character imaginable) is left standing to challenge the Kishin.

She fights the demon god heroically....gets her ass whupped...beats him senseless while she's unconscious...gets woken up just to be a pathetic little girl again....and then, at the end of all this, she beats him.

How does she beat him you ask? With an awesome weapon/ attack she got or learned somewhere along the journey?

No.

She beats him with a punch. A single punch. She punches his face, and he cracks in half. What the hell was in that punch to make a being more powerful than death itself break in half you ask?

Apparently, it was courage. That's it. Nothing special, just courage.

I mean, I know the message it's trying to send...but seriously, something a bit more dramatic would have been nice guys.

Sheesh...

/end ***** rant....

I'd say Higurashi, so many loose ends and holes. Its still an epic masterpiece but really, really annoying ending.

I'm with you. I'll admit the anime ending is better than the manga. At least the anime knew that Light dies, story over. The manga, Light dies and then they do another issue to "wrap things up" and it's boring.

I'm not quite sure, plenty of really lousy ones, though

Death Note.
is reasonably high on the list, agree on that. I don't have a problem with characters being killed off, it's one of the things I like about anime, they're not afraid to kill people. It's a wonderful change from all the copy-pasted Hollywood endings. But Death Note's ending is ridiculously underwhelming.

Rurouni Kenshin! The last season was so bad, it seemed like they lost the funding for an animation team.

The anime ending of Narutaru was annoying. See, the anime only made it about a third of the way through the manga... a lot more stuff happened (and "It Got Worse" is a severe understatement).

From what I remember, InuYasha ended on a really poor note. I think it just had them going off to fight someone, and then the series stopped.

Have they animated the answer arcs, yet?

Read the manga. It's still ongoing and is going in a far more badass direction.

My vote goes to Gurren Lagann. While I consider TTGL the greatest anime of all time the ending was just upsetting. Everyone from the Dai Gurren Dan dies, Nia vanishes and Simon becomes a hobo. So wrong.......

I shoulda figured they'd be bad being based off games, but the Devil May Cry and Xenosaga animes were pretty bad in their entirety, especially the end. But as far as endings...for me it was probably Claymore, it just kind of ended. They had the big battle and such and left it with a bit of a cliffhanger ending but apparently they aren't doing more.

Yeah, they've animated Ni, Kai and Rei. There are some massive holes in the plot like...
Who kills Keiichi in the 4th chapter? And where did Satoko's uncle's corpse disappear too?

Outlaw Star.
They spend the entire series hunting for a intergalactic-pandimensional-wishgranting thingamy which grants you omniscience and mighty powers, which the Pirates get to and use first. Well, that's the end of that I hear you cry! It should've been. But no.
The Pirates use the font of mightiness to make their ship slightly spikier. Not the galaxy ending nightmare I was expecting but they had a hapless ninja pervert in a previous episode so I let it slide. Unfortunately the Heroes have exactly the same idea resulting in a blurry fondle and a general sense of 'ne'.
Apathy and a feeling of immense loss at the life you could've been living while watching this dross is not what Anime directors should be going for!

Anime? Claymore.

If you read the manga you'll know what I mean. Anime is perfect and then the end will cause fuses to blow in your brain.
