Angel Links. Same people who made Outlaw Star, focused on the same universe, with a ship that can fire a cannon that will blow up a small planet. But the ending was crap, and the plot devolved into something terribly trivial.
ok you peaked by interest. Can't believe there is a spinoff to one of my highly regarded animes Outlaw Star. I'll keep my expectations low however, as i know most spinoffs are terrible so thanks for informing me such a thing existed.

Neon Genisis Evangelion. After hearing the mass of praise I have heard from the fans, I would expect something that I could get past at least episode 5. I didn't.
I have yet to find a character who I hate more the Shinji, whining basterd. I also hear that the ending is terribad, so I'm glad I didn't get that far. Also the fanboys and girls annoy me to death for not liking it.
I have nothing against people liking it, so leave me alone for not.
You didn't miss much by not finishing it. Shinji is just as much of a worthless turd at the end as the beginning. Worst of all, it seems to have rubbed off on some of the other characters. I was horribly disappointed with that one. I saw a few things that were supposed to wrap things up a little better, but I didn't feel like listening to Shinji crying anymore.

Also, after hearing so much about it, Death Note was rather disappointing. Just got bored with it and gave up on it.
I'd probably agree with these two, Neon Genisis Evangelion was probably the most annoying, pretentious, 'slug race' boring anime I've encountered. I watched it back was originally running in 96' before the big craze hit and man, I was so disappointed. There's like 3 interesting characters in the entire run (Gendo Ikari, Mana Kirishima, and Misato Katsuragi) as I find Shinji to still be holding the award of worst character in any medium I've seen or read.

Second, would go to The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, mainly based of that her character is incredibly annoying and if met someone like her in the real world you would probably hate her.

Berserk was fairly disappointing to me. I'd heard some good things about it, gave it a try (through Netflix) and barely made it through two episodes. I also tried watching Naruto when it first started on Cartoon Network but eventually lost interest with it due to the massive amount of filler and flashbacks (sometimes a flashback to what happened five minutes (of showtime) earlier.
Though I tend to dislike shows (anime, cartoon or live-action) that run for more than a few seasons, with a few exceptions (mainly NCIS)

Also Elfen Lied. I've raged enough about that anime in other threads, though, so I'll hold off this time.

Mysteries of the Necronomicon. It's a hentai mini-series and while I thought the overall plot was good there were no tentacles to be found. It's a series about the Necronomicon for goodness sake! I mean, sure they covered insane cults and whatnot but I feel like it was a missed opportunity.

Also, I have tried to get into Fruits Basket but it just isn't happening for me. It seemed like one I would like but...no.

Animes like Bleach, Naruto, and even Case Closed. I initially liked them, but then they began to drag on FOREVER, up to 300 to 600 episodes with no end in sight!

devil may cry was disappointing :( the novelty of the series wore off about 3 episodes in.

while tenjou tenge was good, it sorta floundered at the end. they spent so much time developing the back story that the present story line had no room to develop.

Devil May Cry was highly disappointing. The majority of the series had very little continuity and a barely enjoyable story. The action scenes seemed to last no more than a few seconds, and the strongest enemy of the anime was brought down in one or two moves. The anime had many opportunities to add some character development or interesting side stories. The anime was done really poorly story wise.

4: Inyuasha: Well made series with a lot of story and great charater development.
that was a good anime, especially The Final Act. my only problem with it is there were too many standalone episodes. i would have preferred it if there were less shards with each one being a more intense struggle, the Seven blokes thing was really good.

Fairy Tail. The manga is awesome, sure, but the anime is just bad.

While the manga is targeted towards teenagers, the anime seems more targeted towards kids, which is a great disappointment since many of the more violent aspects of Fairy Tail are left out. Also, I prefer the fact that in the manga, Natsu is impervious to fire, while in the anime he can merely eat fire.

Maybe this manga just doesn't translate well into anime...
Nono . Last I checked he was both impervius to fire and could eat it in the anime.
Really? Perhaps I didn't watch long enough or something. Which means I should probably give it another try...

I liked Claymore a lot, but the ending of the first season was so different than the manga that I don't think making a second season would work super well unless they redid the last few episodes. I like the stuff that happens post-time jump a lot, only it seems like less and less is happening per issue now (with the possible exception of the events of 106-107, which made me sadface to the max).
The ending of the anime is what convinces me they can't make a series 2, even if they wanted to, as well.

Such a shame.

Oh, and indeed, the last few chapters have been incredibly sad =(

Has to be Hellsing - In my opinion it has shallow characters, a plot that goes nowhere and it's just a huge gorefest. It's a real shame too because the premise intrigued me and I'm a massive fan of the Freeman, but personally I just couldn't bring myself to like it.

Neon Genisis Evangelion, Bleach, FMA and Death Note are the most disappointing in terms of anime for me.

Meanwhile Inyuasha was a huge let down simply because the damn thing just went on and on and didn't end not to mention they never defeated the one core villian of the series! D:

gonna get flamed for this, but i'd say Elfen Lied. interesting premise, but i wasn't able to watch more than a couple episodes because the violence was so excessive and brutal, it made me sick. and that's coming from a guy whose favorite movies are zombie flicks.
Yeah, I liked the anime myself, but at the same time I forced myself to have an open mind.

Myu pissed me off x(
