I have to go with Death Note. I absolutely loved it for quite a bit but...
After L died, the show seemed to really lose it's edge and I didn't like the "new" opponents for Light to deal with that replaced L. That, and I felt that if anyone should be outsmarting Light, it should have been L and not anyone else

Well I've only seen Higurashi, Ergo Proxy, half of Texhnolyze (gave up on it), FLCL and half of Azumanga Daioh, but they all exceeded my expectations...

I didn't give up on Texhnolyze not because it was bad, but because I just couldn't see the plot going anywhere once I was about 16 episodes in. Other than that it was the most awesome cerebral mindfuck I've ever seen :p

Shuffle. I stuck through the cliched and overdone antics, annoying characters, and shit plot so I could see one character go yandere. And when she did, it wasn't even that much of a payoff. It's possibly the only anime that I've watched that I absolutely loathe.

Followed closely by, and I know I'm going to catch flak for this, the Ghost in the Shell series. Now, that wasn't a disappointment in that it was bad. It was solid throughout, and I could tell that a lot of love was poured into it. The thing is though, it just couldn't hold my interest for long. Each time I'd find myself engrossed in the story going on at the time, I'd come crashing immediately back to Earth for some reason. I don't know, maybe it's the fact that I usually watch it when I'm at my busiest and get too distracted. And this is something that I'll probably have to watch again when I won't be disturbed.

Finally, there's Zombie Loan. I thought it was a pretty good adaptation of a somewhat average manga, and the end left a lot of loose ends that could've easily been wrapped up in a sequel to my satisfaction. The thing is, they never followed up on it with anything but a couple of OVAs that left things even more open ended than before. It isn't my favorite, but it had a lot of potential that was squandered.

Just so many... but the one that disappointed me the most was Haibane Renmei... it wasn't terrible, it wasn't even bad but I just looked it up right after I got off of Serial Experiments Lain, my most favorite show ever, since I heard it was from the same person, Yoshitoshi ABe... so I guess my expectation we're just way too high and I was really just expecting something different though it was still very good...<.<

Second up is Neon Genesis Evangelion... started out pretty good, giant robot type thing battles, an interesting plot and premise... but that plot just came to a screeching halt at the end when it turned into a pile of pretentious bullshit, someone, and you know who you are, pulled out of their ass for the final episodes... and the worst part is that the plot had absolutely no closure and when they could redeem the ending with a movie that makes up for the last few episodes they instead did the exact same thing as the original ending, that is stay as obscure and pretentious about the story as possible and the very worst of all is it still provide no Fucking closure it only mind fucked the audiance into the ground with a load of pretentious crap that very same person pulled out of their ass...
/rant...

which was a shame because the action was good and the characters we're phenomenal...<.<

Elfen Lied, its like if a Punk band was like fuck the government repetitively throughout one whole damn album, in a attempt to be edgy. Only this show was bloody and gory to be controversial. Lacks a actual interesting story, was some how able to make me hate and disconnect with every single character, no one acted realistically.

I thought Full Metal Panic was awesome, why ruin it with forced romance?

For me, it's probably Claymore, now don't get me wrong, I still like it, but the series really lost steam about halfway through and began to drag on quite badly.
I wholeheartedly agree with that, up to episode 8, the show was insanely good, then it just sorta stagnated.

My vote goes for Hellsing, I just found it extremely boring. There weren't enough opportunities for Hellsing to be cool, I really didn't care less about the organisation...
The TV series or the OVA's? I agree about the TV series, but the OVA releases have been all kinds of gorey awesomeness.

For me it was Code Geass.

I wanted it to be based purely on the wars between the gigantic superpowers, and the social dynamics of the Britannian Empire, but instead it follows the adventures of some androgynous tween.

I was disappointed that they'd created a world with so much character and intrigue, and simply abandoned it before they delved into it on any interesting level.

Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood

I love the first original anime but when I started to watch it I felt like they're we're too many characters. Also they got a happy ending

Probably the anime version of the game Blue Dragon. It was just not entertaining, which is surprising because the game's pretty good.

Linebarrels of iron sucked. Anything with characters that you're never quite sure if they are a boy or a girl. I just hate when they do that.

Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt. I think I have said enough. Not that the concept seemed promising in the first place, but damn even my low expectations got disappointed.
What did you honestly expect? It's vulgar entertainment presented in a cutesy fashion designed to get laughs out of the viewer and make you go "Cool!" at the action scenes.

......Which makes it so, so good.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
High School of the Dead
Kenichi the Mightiest Disciple
These three that I listed nearly made me hate anime. I was at that point for a while mind you
Why Gurren Lagann?
I thought that was one of the best anime I had ever seen. I understand it has haters but they all seem to stop watching around episode 8.
I hope you at least made it to the end.
I have seen all of it. I even wrote a review on it.
Here it is
I just don't seem to be able to wrap my head around this anime and the ideas of the people at Gainax behind making it...
It seems almost like what Quentin Tarantino did with Kill Bill, which is a throwback to something that was mildly popular back in the 70s. Gurren Lagann seems to do the same thing, as in copying the over-the-top style and cheesy writing from the mecha anime from those days. Or they made a parody on that exact same thing by going even further into it then they did back in the 70s.

I'll admit straight away that this type of anime is not my style, especially since I'm someone that loves an anime with a great story, which is something that seems to be put into this anime as an afterthought to fill in the few seconds in between the senseless battles and fanservice.

I'll give a rundown of the scores, as I usually do.

Story: 2
There is something of a story put into this anime, but it's far from original, full of plot holes and succeeding in making as little sense as possible. The story is mainly used to drive the main characters from fight A to fight B while occasionally stopping for some fanservice. It's definitely not used to explain the events of the story, and when they try to do that it fails miserably and leaves holes in the plot large enough to fly a spaceship through.

Art: 6
It's decent to look at, although it does have quite a few repeated scenes (some even to the point of being nauseating) that are shown and reshown in several episodes. I also felt that the inclusion of "manga" style images broke the flow.
However even if the art was decent to look at the amount of cheesiness that it threw at the screen was so far over-the-top that it made me want to go and do something else that didn't include have to watch this anime, even Dragonball GT seems to be preferable over this at times...
The style of the art seems modern but the way in which it's used is fit for an anime from 30 years ago.

Sound: 6
It's decent, but like the art and the story very cheesy. The screaming out of a character's name during a death scene is SO overused, done to death and over the top that it really should become punishable by death to use it.

Characters: 2
What can I say... They are shallow, have very little character development, many seem to be included for the sole purpose of fanservice or comic relief and the amount of cliché character traits is as over-the-top as the rest of the anime.
We've got the whiny spineless emo teenager, the "I'm so cool that I'm gonna die halfway though the series" guy, the bigbreasted airhead, the faceless nameless enemy that's as 2 dimensional as can be, and so forth, and so forth.
The character design and character development are practically the worst I've ever seen.

Enjoyment: 4
Yeah, it was a load of fun action topped off with fanservice, atleast if you don't mind an almost complete lack of a coherent story and got plenty of crackers to scoop up the cheese with.

Overall: 5
It's a bit of fun, looks nice, sounds kinda nice but trips over it's own plot holes.
2 dimensional stock characters with hardly any development going on and a shaky over-the-top lack of a storyline.

In my opinion mediocre at best, which is something that Gainax seems to be specializing in lately.
TTGL is a parody of the mecha genre in its entirety. The whole genre was getting completely ridiculous so....Gainax made something completely ridiculous.

If you're into over-the-top it's some of the most fun you can have but I see why you didn't like it.

Devil May Cry, literally nothing happened. Maybe a total of 5 minutes of action in the entire series. There were more instances of Dante eating ice cream than him using his sword.

I am resisting the urge to defend my favourite series. I want to slap several of you in the face.

Cowboy Bebop.

What? No five hundred episode series? No endless exposition and filler? No annoying near lolicon styled characters? No angsty teens followed by dozens of women? Effective use of time and pacing? An established universe only hinted at instead of told every exacting detail?

What kind of anime is that?

(all in sarcasm, don't get riled up.)

Yeah, and that's exactly the reason why I love Gasaraki and FLAG.
Those two are some of the best that Mecha anime have to offer.
Also Vision Of Escaflowne is among my list of favourite mecha anime, even though it has some incredibly whiny characters that can certainly put off many people.

Although this anime didn't disappoint me (I expected I probably wouldn't like it, but watched it anyway), it surprised me with something I never expected.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.

I never expected this level of homo-eroticism from this anime, and it's not even insinuated, it's as blatant as possible.
Although the manga is even worse.
