I felt really old when every post was GTA IV and other such games that came out within what seems like the last 3 years. Here's a few sequels I've had the not-so-much pleasure to play.

Devil May Cry 2 - Mentioned above ad nauseum, emphasis on the nauseum.

Dino Crisis 3 - The first two on Playstation were great. They rivaled Resident Evil in my mind for survival horror. Then they put this out on the PS2....the best way I can describe its terribleness is to compare it to the Jason movie where he came back to life in outer space; they are so similar I wonder if the same people made both o_O

Xenosaga Episode 2: Jenseits von Gut und Bose - Sadly, I still own this because this is a true sequel; you would miss a huge chunk of the overall story if you only owned Episode 1 and 3. And the story is the only reason to play it, the gameplay is just awful. 30-45 second load times between encountering a random battle and actually fighting? Enough said.

Deus Ex 2 was the biggest turd of a game to rely on its predecessor for sales.
Deus Ex 2 wasn't bad, to be honest, it was a good game, but just not as good as the masterpiece that is Deus Ex 1.

Max Payne 2
WHHHHHHAT? What did you not like about it?
I second this counter-complaint.

Oh, definitely. I had great fun with Halo 1 that came packaged with my Xbox, but I played through 2 and thought 'Is this it? Seriously?'. There was so much lacking in the story mode, and apart from TF2, in which I play sniper, and L4D, I don't play multiplayer games.

I think that GTA4 was a giant load of crap and not nearly as fun as, say, Vice City (which I count as part of GTA3).
I found GTA 4 far better, but I'm a fan of realistic crime movies, and hate Scarface, so that might be why.

I'd also like to say Perfect Dark Zero - rubbish compared to the brilliant original, and Mercenaries 2. Jesus Fucking Christ EA, you Fucking C***s.

Destroy All Humans 3

I intend to go back and play 1 and 2 and see if they are as good as i remember them to be, but I bought 3 on release day and quickly realised all was not good.

Gears of War 2. The Gameplay just wasn't nearly as fun as the original
It was in the original Engine... The gameplay was almost the exact same as GoW1, with some added modes, a new and longer campaign, an extra gun/grenade/quicktime event here and there...what was so different? o.o

Splinter Cell: Double Agent. It forgot everything that make Chaos Theory so enticing. Hope Conviction can rescue the franchise...
Yeah it was more Gears of War: Sam Fisher than a real Splinter Cell game ...

Most disappointing, though? Mercenaries 2. First one was soooooooooo fun, second one was sooooooo broken.
about damn time someone said this!

Sure, it was fun and all, but the first one was SO much better! It was such a deep game, and I hate how they took out character - specific langauges for 2...And to qoute yahtzee, it was more like "Airstrikes 2, hooray for airstrikes."

Parasite Eve 2. Holy crap... Until then I didn't believe it was possible to take a game as good as the original PE and turn it into a flaming pile of dogshit. It was poo on fire.

Well the GBA version was better. Emerald and Sapphire then. But yea they are still the same except that the GBA version had better music, better colours, nicer gameplay and that's about it.

Anyway the game sequel I hated the most was Far Cry 2. Without a doubt. I could take up 90% of the gameplay features and trash them for very good reasons. I already done it several times in Steam forums so I have no wish to do it again.

It just sucks.
